Which chemical is popular in your country for disinfection in the swimming pool.

One time, when i talking with a American friend, he said it smells different from the swimming pool in the USA because they use Chlorine for disinfection and China use another kind of thing. So i wonder which chemical do you use in your country?

CuSO4, i think. The swimming pool do not have such smell.
