Hi all, The Mist is one of my favorite movie of all time. The director is Frank Darabont, the same guy who delivered an excellent Stephen's novel based movie, Shawsank Redemption and Green Mile. Maybe tou think this is a regular thriller monster movie, because in short, the movie is about a guy and his son trapped in a store with other shoppers because there is thick mist outside and there might be "something"(=alien) out there. What makes this movie interesting is the dialogue among the shoppers in the store. I learn how insane can people go when they put on under pressure, and they will believe in illogical thinking from a crazy woman. Also, I think it can build suspense along the duration and have this CRAZY ENDING! I tell you, it's a crazy ending that I will not forget in a long time. Share your thoughts here!

I did watch the movie. I thought it was good in many ways like the graphics were amaizing. I hated the religious lady though. She had the worst acting part ever. I thought the ending was dumb but that is Stephan King. With his stories there are hardly any good endings. I though the creatures were awsome looking and no it didnt gross me out. The gross stuff was very fake looking (except for the rope of intestands being dragged accross the parking lot). Anyways, I thought the movie was ok but i tend to look at all the technical attributes of the movie.

I love Marcia Gay Hayden acting in the movie! It is hard to make a woman so obnoxious that we as the audience just want to kill ker in the middle of the movie LOL. I think what Marcia did was just that, she's really into the character and the character itself is intended to be loathed by us. I think the ending is absolutely brilliant, it still haunting you until now, isn't it? :)) If the movie ends with a happy ending, like finally they can get out of the town and happily live ever after, it's just another good thriller movie (although I think it's great right from the start). Thanks for the response!

I love this movie! Okay, I'll admit, I'm a huge Stephen King fan. I don't always like his movies, although in the last couple of years he's been coming out with some really fantastic stuff. I think it's mostly his older, low-budget before he was famous movies that tend to be terrible. But The Mist was brilliant. They kept really true to the book, which is rare, and the ending was even better than reading it, which never ever happens to me. But the whole movie had excellent acting, excellent directing and great suspense.

I remember reading in a website that the ending in the book is not actually like that, but because I haven't read it, I dunno what's the ending. But if the plot stays the same with the book, then I think it is really great considering that some movies cannot captured the essence of the novel. Thanks for the response

The Mist was such a good movie. I didn't get to see it until a couple of months ago, actually. I had very high expectations, because it was based on one of my favorite Stephen King stories. Seriously, if it gets foggy, that story creeps into my head and scares the heck outta me. It's awesome. The movie was so good. The deviations from the original enhanced the story I already knew. The ending was SO messed up. Seriously, for like 2 weeks afterward I was like WTF???? Don't get me wrong, it was really good. But the ending was just twisted.

I agree with you, it's such a great movie! I remember the last time I was having WTF moment is when watching Sixth Sense, although the ending is much gentler than this one. I watched it in DVD, the first time I read the synopsis I was only expecting a thriller movie from Stephen King. Then it turns out to be psychological movie (what happened in the store itself among the crowd, minus the monsters, had already creeped me out), monster-thriller movie, plus a twited ending, what else can you expect from a movie. Thanks for sharing, cheers!

Yes...the ending is really crazy it got me really frustrated for I
think two days. I don't like the ending of the movie it's so cruel.
I like the movie before the ending but when the ending was beginning
to unfold I kind of like being cheated. Over all te movie is great.

OMG! That was the most surprising ending that i have seen in a horror/suspense movie. The stuff going on in the supermarket was great. There was some great characters and the building up of tension between the characters. They had some great effects and it's amazing how most of it happened in a supermarket. The ending actually scarred me for a small amount of time after i watched the movie. It was so shocking and i couldn't believe that that would actually happen. I heard somewhere that the book didn't even end that way. The movie rewriters went even further then stephan king did and that's pretty hard to do.

Actually I heard there is an alternate ending prepared for the movie, but eventually the studio choose to end the movie in a crazy way. It did succeed for us, didn't it? Yes, the supermarket scenes is great. Although it looked like cliche (there is a bad girl, good guy, and a people who just stubborn and doesn;t believe that there is something out there), it truly remarkable how they exchange words and conversation, building up the tension till it reached the surprising climax. Thanks for the response!

Well I honestly thought it was not that great, as most of the film adaptations of Kings work are.
There are one or two exceptions, but this film wasnt one of them. I wanted to turn the sound off and lip read, because the accents of the people in most of his films always sound so phoney
The only thing sad about the ending was that it didnt happen about 86 minutes earlier than it did... It was an unexpected twist for sure. I do like to be kept on my toes with a movie and that one really surprised me. It was ironic to because a lady everyone let go out into the mist at the first of the movie to save her kids...alone..after she asked for someone to help her home..was on the rescue vehicle with her children. The star had told her he had his own to worry about when she looked to him to help her home.
