What religion are you?

Is your current religion a religion you were raised in? Or did your views change as an adult bringing you to the faith you currently practice?

I was reared Southern Baptist. By my middle teens, I was having a lot of questions about other beliefs. More and more, I saw that there was good in each one, but also there were some not so good things in them too. That's when I started learning about the difference between spirituality and religion. Spirituality is the experience; religion is a set of practices that people use to help them reach the spirtual experience. Sometimes people find the spiritual experience(s) within the bounds of a certain religion. Sometimes the spiritual experience comes in an unexpected way or through unconventional means. The most important thing is that a person gets and maintains a living contact with their Higher Power. That's what I do now.

Any idea how to change a best response? I intended to post yours as best response in this thread but for some reason it came through differently.

Up until I was in my early teens, our denomination was called Evangelical United Brethern. After that, we merged with the Methodist Church and become United Methodists. There were actually some people who left our church at that time thinking that this was somehow bad, but my folks and I really didn't see what the big deal was. These days, we say "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." instead of "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors." and, as incredible as it was, there were actually people who saw this as some kind of watering down of our faith or something.
