we all know this. we've experienced the thrill of seeing there is a friend or a ton of them all online in facebook. but if you see whose online you'd find the others' (if you're unlucky your target) chat button disabled. do you think facebook should not just feature the names of those online if they cannot be reached by those who are using it?

Like the first responder said: Maybe they're busy and don't want to be distracted. I myself often mark myself offline when I'm doing something important, since Facebook annoyingly changes my active window whenever someone sends me a message. It's really annoying when Facebook does it while I'm talking to someone else on a different site, or playing a game. Anyways, I guess Facebook just wants to make it easier for stalkers to know what their friends are doing. Even if you can't talk to them, you'll at least know that they're online. :3

When you logged in to Facebook, the chat section automatically opens. If someone disables you, perhaps there are other things that they are doing and would not want to chat. Perhaps they could be playing pet society. I know that it is rude to just disable you. Maybe the next time you see that person, ask her why she disabled you. Possible, the Facebook system is not functioning well.
