Are there absolutes such as good and evil? Or are they merely created in our minds? What is good? What is evil? Do we have a right to judge other people?

good and evil is a pure mind set,
there is no such thing as good or evil, I think everybody on the planet can be capable of doing so called bad acts.
Also what is evil to one person is good to another.
Take for instance you someone has a go at your loved one and you punch them in a pub fight or where ever and they hit their head and die most people would class that as evil or bad.
Flip it around someone attacks you and you punch them in self defence and they hit their head and die most people wouldn't class that as evil or bad and the law would also not convict you as its self defence.
So its a pure mind set, good and evil exist because we as human beings have created the concept.

hello astraea :) this is a good but a hard question. I myself have been a fan of philosophy. Anyway, all human beings are rational beings. We know what is right and what is wrong. It is created in our nature. I guess being rational beings, and we know what is right and what is wrong, we direct the good to the right things, and the bad to the evil things. Because of our rationality, I think we are capable of judging others, but it doesn't necessarily mean that judging others is right. We should know their side of the story at all times. Because of mutual respect, everyone shouldn't automatically jump into conclusions when a person does something wrong. After all, human beings act the way they do because of a specific purpose, and in general, towards happiness. They do something to make them happy. But oh well, I guess that's humans for you. Complicated, rational, but with much potential and possibilities :)

Hi Jamie!
Thanks for your response. It's great to read other people's point of view. Your response is very good.
But, how can we be so sure of being rational? There are values that many or even most people share, but there's always someone who disagrees. Are they rational as well? Is there truly something that is universally right or wrong when we all have different ideals? I may disagree with a murderer's choice to kill someone, but how can I be so sure that I am right an he is wrong? Could it be the other way around? Or, and this is my personal belief, could it be that we are all right? We may live in the same physical reality, but our consciousnesses are different. Are souls, if we may call our consciousness that, not different worlds in themselves? And do not different worlds or countries have different beliefs and ideals that they follow? Do those ideals make them bad or good countries?
This is indeed a very hard question, but I find it very interesting as well. Thank you very much for responding to this discussion!
