3 important ingredients of hip hop, r&b, and pop are freshness, cleverness, and attitude, and you really got to tune your ear into the arrangement. Any pro's have suggestions?

i think that each of those song genres have a different recipe for success.
in hip hop you have to have confidence, be a great story teller, have a story to tell, be part of a strong network and have a fresh idea. I think that often times, people mix up hip hop for pop rap and that is not the same at all. There is a certain culture that revolves around hip hop and that is also part of the success of certain hip hop artists.
in r&b, you have to know the classics and strong rhythm and blues pioneers. You have to make sure that love is your focus as an r&b artists and you have to be able to hear it in your voice. artists like keysha cole and ne-yo are artists that are keeping r&b alive, unlike a lot of pop artists and wannabes.
in pop, all you really need is a good dance routine, a good chorus and a great producer to make a beat thats catchy. it does not take much more than a pretty face to be successful in pop music.
