What is the benefit of using a debit card over the credit card. The government is encouraging the usage of debit card but the bank the financial institution is opposing and encouragement more towards usage of credit card. Why is this happening?

The government encourages people to use a edbit card instead of credit so they wouldn't be using money they they don't have. A credit card is using money from a bank or a financial institution while a debit card is using your own money you have already deposited in a bank. Many people don't use cash because it's inconvenient and use a credit card this way but that's easy for people to become in debt. Using a debit card, you don't have to carry around cash but you also don't have to use money that you don't have

I am using debit card right now with a VISA brand on it. I think it's better than using a credit card because you can only spend the amount on your debit card. With a debit card, you won't have any unwanted loans and you will have a better budgeting.

financial institutions wont have any interest or income when we use debit cards. Using a debit card is much better than credit cards because we wont have any interest and we only spend the amount that we put on our account. Over spending is avoidable.

Well that's simple..do you like to borrow money for luxury purpose? Like wanna go shopping and make payments with other people's money? I'm sure you're answering a 'NO' for that! Credit Card is basically making you to do that! When you make payment delays, you're fined with interest and if you don't pay at all...imagine what might happen?! Guess you got the answer, of why people like Debit Card as you use your own money to shop! Government is trying to help you! Again..whose opposing? I love my Debit Cards!!!

The advantage of debit cards is that the money you are using is money you have which means you very much know that you can afford what your for unlike credit cards, you are paying using money that you think you will get on a certain time. Banks are opposing to this because banks profit from loans and the main concept of a credit card is that it is a loan. For me, there is no clear definition of what is better because it is how we use the cards that matter anyway. If you use a credit card, just be sure that you pay on time and avoid just paying the minimum payment. :)

banks and financial institutions discourage the use of debit card because there is no service charge or late payment charges if you will use it. Aside from that if you use debit card the only amount you can spend is the amount you have in your debit card. credit card always have hidden charges that's why they get profit for using it.
