Most Filipinos (if not all) believe strongly in the power of luck. That is why it's not surprising to see a very long line of people in all of the Lotto outlets nationwide. With all of the uprising problems in the economy, Filipinos tend to hold on the belief that a lotto ticket can be their "ticket" to richness. After all, a lotto ticket is just ten pesos that even poor people can afford it.
But in most rural places in the Philippines where lotto outlets are not that popular (especially to those areas that still don't have power supplies that people don't have any means of knowing what the winning number combinations are), a gambling system called Jueteng is still popular.
In Jueteng, unlike lotto where you have to choose a combination of 6 numbers or so, a person will pick a two-number combination and bet for those numbers at any amount (I think the lowest bet one can give is 3 pesos).
Yet jueteng, unlike lotto, is now considered illegal here in the Philippines thus the daily draws are held in secret palces and time.
How about you, friend? Do you still have jueteng in your town?

I am not ashamed to admit that I do bet in Lotto. I do not see anything wrong with it. It does not mean that I leave to chances my livelihood. What I put in mind is that I am also helping the indigents since part of the proceeds of lotto go to charities.

When i was in Philippines,in our province, there is no jueteng or lotto. It's only last two or last three, and yes, it's illegal gambling. You can play with any amount, like 5 pesos or 1 peso.
Not only Filipino who believe strongly in power of luck. Here in UK, many British playing lotto too. I and my hubby we always play lotto and we spent £1 (75 pesos) every week or another. Just wishing we are lucky to win jackpot, so we can retire early lolz.
Happy posting.

haha, i choose both!LOL I choose Jueteng because you can easily win with your own amount of bet. I also choose Lotto because you can easily get filthy rich if you're really really lucky.

This is another sad truth about us...gambling,one of the bad influences Spaniards had passed from our forefathers up to this generation.
Here in Metro Manila,Lotto is very common and i guess this is been legalized by our government.huh! well,we had CASINO for rich people ...so,to match up with low profile lotto is for them.So bad!
