Butterflies in stomach as a sign?

There is this guy in school, he's nice, cute, and smart. I knew him when the classes started, and in just instance, we became friends. We exchange stories, laugh and trip with each other, just like real buddies. Then suddenly, we missed communication and barely see each other because of our schedule, we're not classmates. Suddenly, he came into my mind and there was some sort of feelings that is not appropriate for me to feel. Its somewhat like butterflies in my stomach? what does it mean? is that really a sign that i'm falling inlove with him?
