100% PINOY: COFFEE or TEA?

Whew, this is hard, I'm biased, joke! I am a coffee lover. Well, okay, more of a coffee addict. I cannot last a day without coffee. I have an average coffee consumption of 4-8 mugs of coffee. Wow, hehe, sad but true. My dad used to joke that if someone would stab me, coffee would flow out of my wound instead of blood. haha! I think coffee is the most popular drink. Many people love it,not only here in the Philippines, especially those who really need a dose of caffeine to keep them awake during work hours. Most Filipinos are coffee drinkers, we are used to coffee. how many of you who, like me, even loves coffee as an "ulam" over rice? hehe. Ang have you tried "kapeng barako"? Awsome right? I even exprienced drinking a coffee made of rice grains (a poor woman served that to me since she doesn't have any money to buy coffee. See how resourceful a poor Filipino can get? hehe) Yet, as years pass by, Filipinos too (together with people all around the world), are getting more and more conscious and mindful of their health. Thus, here comes the idea of drinking tea instead! Tea has less caffeine. It has a wide variation depending on what ingredient it contains (green tea, ginger tea, etc.) drinking tea can also be beneficial to your health. I have nothing against tea. I do drink green tea once in a blue moon (especially when my mom serves it, and forces me to drink it), yet I am still inlove with coffee. hehehe. What about you? Coffee or tea?

Hiya dzeiel. Im not going to choose coz i love both of them. I love coffee in the morning and specially during winter! I love tea too specially the chamomile and peppermint, of course the Twinings Brand! Im particular on tea brands, but in coffee brands im alright even it's a supermarket brand only. Anyway, i miss Nestea Ice Tea! Have a nice day!

Man- whether Filipino or otherwise- should not be addicted to anything. Healthwise- too much of everything is a poison. We should strive to prolong our stay here in this planet. Maganda ang daigdig, diba? Dapat pahabain natin ang buhay natin para tumulong sa pagpapaganda at maging kasisiya ang daigdig. Kaya huwag tayong malulong sa coffee at ano mang bagay. (The world is beautiful, isn't it? It is but fitting and proper that we do things to lengthen our life span so as to render and introduce things to make this world of ours livable and interesting. This we can easily accomplish by not allowing ourselves to become addicts of coffee and other things). Easier said than done? Are human beings not the highest form of animals. If so, let's not bow down to things that will prove harmful to our health. My advice: control- control- control- and control intake of coffee and other things.

May I include chocolate drink? Lol! Kidding aside, I like coffee but I like it more when it is mixed with chocolate or cocoa powder.

i have tried that. It really tastes good. what I do is put cream in my coffee, then add "Milo" (a chocolate drink brand) in it. But i don't do that very often, much as I would like to. I consume too much coffee as it is everyday and adding chocolate in it would double the effect. haha! It would cause me to palpitate!

hello! very Filipino! hehehe... i like coffee more! and like you i always have it daily and when i go visit my relatives in Batangas, there i get my "kapeng Barako" hehehe! i don't know why, when i am in Batangas, i feel like coffee is even better and more tasteful! hehehe maybe because of the cold weather there and the fact that i am drinking it with my family and other relatives! i also like coffee partnered with rice, and dried fish! especially during rainy days! sooooo delicious...i think i will not trade that to lechon at times! heheheehe coffee for me is really versatile...i am happy to have it in the morning with pandesal(i have this habit of soaking the pandesal with cheese in black coffee with a little sugar) and its good for me!:-) i can have it for lunch and for dinner...anytime i want. now i am fond in using this 3 in 1 instant coffee of "kopiko" i like its strong taste and aroma! when it come to tea...mmm i just like iced tea! have a nice day! proud to be Pinoy!

well yes, 3 in 1 coffees sometimes does not suit one's taste...but for me i am satisfied with that "kopiko" and its more convenient for me since i always have visitors here in our house, so when i offer them coffee, i already have there and all i need to do is just add water! hehehe coffee sometimes is difficult to mix coz each people have different taste when it comes to coffee! well kapeng barako is good but not for everyday...what i don't like about it is that its not instant! hehehe we need to boil it together with the water and yes its strong...but for once in a while its good to have this...

kapeng barako for me is very strong so when it comes to drinking that, I can only take two mugfuls. true that pandesal tastes better when soaked in black coffee. I don't like 3 in 1 coffee mixes, because I feel like I don't really get what I paid for. I still prefer coffee made to taste, makes it even special. hehehehe.

I like tea better. Everytime I drink coffee, the caffeine in it makes me jittery because I don't get caffeine often. I'm also from the southeast USA and sweet tea is the greatest. I don't drink tea for health. I like coffee but its just not a good idea for me because it makes me jittery. If it didn't make me jittery, I'm sure it would be the other way around.

I prefer to drink coffee since the taste is better compared to tea. I know that tea can be beneficial to our health, I still like coffee better. I like coffee especially with cream. It taste really better. Coffee though is vasoconstrictor, which means that it could constrict the vessels leading to some potential problems like hypertension.

Here in the Philippines, it rains a lot during typhoon season (I prefer to call it typhoon season rather than rainy season because the rains we usually have during these months are because of typhoons, hehehe) which is from June to September, and I remember how nice it felt like to be "trapped" inside the house (because as a child I was not allowed to go outside when it rains especially when there is flood) and watch the rain fall from my window with a nice warm coffee beside me. I still do that these days. Right now that we have a typhoon here, and it's really raining hard outside, I watch the trees dance with the wind and rain falls from the sky together with the people I love and sharing a thermos full of coffee with them. Coffee breaks can be such a wonderful bond between friends and family. Happy coffee session! hahaha!
