work at home online, how do you dress??

I woke up this morning and after I got my kids changed and dressed for the day, I got online for a bit while they watched there morning program on tv... and I was still in my pj's. then after I did 2 of my sites I then had to get dressed and my kids and I ran to the fruit market so that I have things for supper tonight... then when I got a few things done around the house I got back online again... and now I am in my summer clothes (basically dressed for the day). I want to view my online sites as my part time job at home... I would make more if I worked out of the house but as it is, I take what I can get right now.... this got me thinking, if I worked at home would I work in my pj's or would I make sure I was dressed and ready for the day before I started working?? So if you work at home online... do you work in your pj's or do you dress as though you are ready for the day and can run at any moment to do things that need to be done?

I usually wear something comfortable, whether it be pajamas or jeans and a t-shirt or something like that. Basically, anything I feel comfortable in.

I find that when it was winter and I had just started working online, there were days I got up and was in my pjs for most of the day as I was online alot more then... now I have to get up and get ready for the day before I get online because at any moment I will have to run out and get something for the kids, or someone will call and say can you meet us here or there.... thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

well frankly speaking, i don't dressed up that well..because you know it's just online and no one would watched as to what is the color of my dress the design of my outfit...who knows about my thing...but i have such limitation too...if i have a web cam conferencing that is the time that i dressed up my self you know..to be presentable..it's a business talk by the way..

of course it is the perk of working online... being able to earn money while in our pjs!!! but then there are days that we should be required to be more presentable... days that we will be seen by others!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting!

that totally makes sense to me!! I think also if you view your online sites as a part time job, and you are dressed accordingly to that...then you feel more productive and more like a job...at least that is how I try to view it. some days I cant even get online due to the crazy times right now, but I am hoping to get a great schedule here as I have been getting my house organized and in shape.. so that I can focus more online time. thanks for the response and happy mylotting!

H! bookreadermom, My routine is almost the same with yours, Morning is very important to me as a mother. I need to prepare breakfast for my husband and for my 1 year old child, after breakfast need to fix the rooms. kitchen and the whole house itself. With my child around it's very hard to do that but I'm used and learned to enjoy that. After lunch is my free time to do online, but sometimes it depends how long....but usually after lunch and after bathed, I wear jeans and shirt If I have plans and want to be ready if in case I need to go out at least I can easily leave the house. But if my plans is to stayed at home the whole day I wore leggings and big shirt so I could move and ran with my child. Happy mylotters!

yep, sounds alot like my days. I hope eventually to view my online work as a real part time job and get more time online to build up my earnings...only we have been doing projects on the house and getting things organized ... and working on the back yard that has been taking up alot of my time... but hopefully things will get back to more time for me online and then I can view my sites as a part time job. thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Yep, I know exactly what you mean... days that I have to do running I am usually up and ready for the day before I get online, but days that I dont have anything planned then I am really comfy either in sweats or shorts right now since we are in summer time. thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Hello bookreadermom08 this is checkmail and me too gets dressed up while going online. When I am staying back at home then I would prefer to wear my tracks and t-shirts while going online. And if I have to go outdoor then I go online with the shirt and pant dressed up.The dress depends upon the current and future routine of mine.As usual normally I am in tracks and t-shirts which also make me mre comfortable,And when in outgoing dress - shirts and pants its like a proffessional doing work online.I like both the ways to dress as being online.

I find that too, it depends on the day and what I have planned to what I am wearing while online... if we dont have plans and I can actually get on early I am usually really comfortable, but if we have plans and I can only get online to check a few things out then I am dressed and ready to leave the house. thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

I do not work from home but have a regular job. But whenever I am at home I am always dressed ready for the day. One would never find me in pj's during the day just in case some visitor decides to drop in. PJs are only for the nights!!!

thats true, plus you feel more productive if you actually get up and shower/dress for the day and then get online... however, I would be in jeans or shorts and a shirt... I still feel more ready to be on the go and can leave the house without having to stop and figure out how much time I need. thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

I don't dress anything facy when I'm home. I just wear dress at home without wearing any accessories, comfortable is the best when I'm home :-) If I go to the pond with my dog or go outside working in the yard, I will change pants and working clothes.

I think thats perfect and the way it should be...as it is it is one of the perks of working online at home... you can dress comfy and wear your pjs all day if you dont have to be anywhere!!! during the winter I will stay in my pjs longer...but now that it is summer I have to be dressed and ready to go --my days are much busier now. thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Hello friend, I really don't pay much attention to the way I look when I am at home. Even outside, I like to dress casually. I do not want to dress very fashionably so as to attract unwanted attention. I am a reluctant person when it comes to changing my clothes frequently, specially in this summer season.

plus when working at home you might be more productive if you are comfortable... it all depends on the person it seems!! I am not one to dress overly professional as well, comfy is the way I go as well...and as a full time mom I definitely want to be as comfy as possible since I am always on the go!!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

hahaha I think I know what you mean well on weekdays I I will have to ready myself ware t- shirt and jeans so anytime there is an errand for my sister or some business matter I could just get out of my room and go then I would change into my home attire before I go to sleep lol but on weekends I stay as comfortable as I am and stay online as long as I can ....just got to love the weekend...

My daily casual dress is a pair of jeans and a tshirt.. that is the best.. if I have plans for the day then I will get up, shower, and get ready before I get on and depending on what we have planned I may be in just jeans/tshirt... or if we have a lunch/playdate I might dress a little nicer... however on the weekends I dont usually get online until later in the day as we do alot of either yard work or running around...then I am in my pjs at that point. thanks for the response and happy mylotting!

I am embarrassed to admit that some days I am awake at 7 and I get right to work on the computer. Often I am wearing what I slept in. Sometimes it will be almost noon and I will feel lazy that I am not dressed for the day. Being that working online is my source of income it is bad of me to not get dressed but sometimes I am trying to take advantage of the quiet in the house. Being that it is summer, my daughter sleeps late so for me it is easier to work while she is asleep. There are days when I only get dressed when I have to run out to the store. I have had days where I do not even drive! I am really liking my life lately, lol!

well that is one of the perks of working at home online... you get to dress in what ever you want!! LOL I want to view my online sites as a part time job, so I feel that I should be dressed in more of a working manner, yet I tend to be in shorts and a tshirt lately since it is summer and I get up -as my kids are up by 7:30 or earlier some days --they dont sleep in just yet... but I get them breakfast and I try to get my work out in too before I get online... I really need to come up with a better system and schedule as lately I havent even been home to find time on the computer!!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

that makes me laugh though maybe am wrong but the kind of job i do online is freelance writing , i don't have to make any preparations for it rather i log to the internet and search for materials and the other person does not need what i wear but needs my dedication to duty

no, I completely agree when others cant see you and it doesnt matter what you are wearing to do your work, then comfort comes first!!!! as a mom, and we do tons of running, my online sites are purely for extra money and lately I havent had much time online but when I get up and get the kids and I ready for the day and get some time online I am usually dressed and ready to be on the go!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

If I will be working at home, I will wear what will be comfortable with me so that I can do my work properly and finish my tasks on time. I will also prepare the things that I need if ever there will be errands.

I also wear comfy clothes, for me that is jeans and a shirt... and in the winter I have had days where I stayed in my pjs all day since I knew I wasnt going anywhere that day. but for most of the summer we havent been home much so I have been dressed and ready to go early in the mornings...LOL thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

Taking my shower is the first thing I will do immediately after getting up from bed and then change to comfortable casual attire. Maybe this is how I was being brought up since young as my mother disallowed us wearing pj's walking around in the house. I think by doing this, it will make you more energetic for the day. Wearing pj's will just make you like to laze around the whole day. Therefore my advise is to change to any attire so long it's not pj's. Wake up....time to work!!!

I have been currently trying to get things in my life organized and I am trying to workout a routine for my online sites along with my real life errands, housework, kids, etc.... and I agree that when you get up and shower and are ready for the day you do feel more productive...and with working online if you view it as a part time job you will put more effort into it and feel more productive!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting!!

Oh, by far, I dress for comfort; it's PJs all the way in front of my computer. Sometimes I do wear street dress, especially after I get home from work, or I'm getting ready to go out (usually back to work). I need the ultimate comfort because I mostly seat for hours on end when I'm working online.

You make a very good point, we are sitting for alot of hours at a time when we work online so comfort has to come first!!!! plus it is a perk to be able to earn money online in our pjs!!! I have days where I feel like I should be dressed more like a work thing, then maybe I would feel more like I am actually working... granted it is nice to be in shorts and a tank top and on my own time... I just need more hours in the day sometime to get it all in!! thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

I normally get into casual clothes, shorts, tshirts, or comfy sweat pants. Nothing wonderful. If I know I am going to have to go out at some point I will get dressed in whatever I plan to wear out. I KNOW I should do this every day but it is so much more comfortable to be in comfy clothes while working at home. I know a few people that dress as if they were going to the office for the day. I just don't understand that but some of them do have to participate in the webconferences using their webcams. I think one of the greatest things about working from home is the entire comfort zone that you are in. No stuffy clothes, not having to put up with co-workers and no interruptions.

Your question is kind of amusing. Well, the first thing that I need to do before I get online is that I need to take a bath first. And then , I will just be on my usual day to day clothes, like plain t-shirt and walking shorts. I think this is the good thing when you are working from home. You can just wear anything you want to provided it is comfortable to you.

thank you!!! and yes, it has to be a benefit of working online at home to be in comfy clothes... unless of course you have plans and need to be ready to go.. because there are times when I am online and totally lose track of time!! I also like to get my shower in before I get online as well most of the time.. this way I feel better and more ready for anything! thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

I wake up by 6.30 am because, thats the time my children are up. I look after there tea first and thy watch an educational dvd until I'm ready to bathe them. I go on the internet in my PJ to check my email to see if I made any sale or something interested popped up. I bathe the kids around 8 am leave them to watch T.V and I also take a shower and I dress up in some casual clothes and then I log in and I work for 2 hrs the most and then rest after.
