My hair root is screaming tired right now... since I ahven't had it trimmed for month, it's been getting very very thick... it does bring me headache and sore neck sometimes... I have tried to tie up and sleep, it doesn't help much because my hair root is still not resting that way...
When I don't go out, I tend to make a pony tail so it doesn't feel very heavy all day long... I wonder what could help besides cutting it shorter and have it trimmed thinner... I really don't wnat to cut it... Do you have any ideas?

Don't put it all in a pony tail.Only half.
This way it wont be in you way and it wont be too heavy.
It is so hot where I am I soak my hair in cold water.
It feels so nice and I can get to sleep.

Yes, I usually tie my hair when sleeping for the reason that, I want it away from my face as much as possible. Like you, I am still confused whether or not I should cut it. Maybe it's a bit shorter, it'll be easier to manage... but the downside of shorter hair for me is that... it won't fit my face shape. I have a heart shaped face... and from experience, short hairstyles just won't accentuate my features... instead... it exaggerates areas I want to hide, such as the wide forehead. Having bangs won't help too...since as mentioned earlier, I want my hair away from my face as much as possible...or else, I'll have pimples.

I am a man but I do have long hair so I think I am qualified to answer this question. I usually don't tie my hair when I go to sleep because it would somehow disturb my nice sleep especially when I am turning around and around when I am sleeping.

I am a Hair Stylist. Though I have a pixie hair cut. Very nice just have to shower and brush :P
But I would get a trim and don't pony your hair at night. Try and avoid doing it at all if ya can. It's breaking the hair from the elastic.
I would get a deep conditioner and stick it on at night. Put a cap on and sleep and in the morning take the cap of and wash. Do this every other night. It will get healthier. I would go to a salon and get a good deep conditioner there. Ask them what there best product is. If you can't afford which I would understand I wont paythose outragous prices. Go to a store and get aussy deep conditioner it's in a purple bottle.
Then in about a week or so get a trim if ya can.
Have a wonderful night!
I am certain this will work

I used to have a really long and thick hair and whenever I go to sleep I normally let my hair down but brush my hair before I go sleep.
But sometimes I tie my hair up not in a pony tail, like this..

..but further up using just a mini hair tie, not a really hard one but anything that is comfortable. I normally do this to keep my hair away from my face.

I have not tied my hair in a long time, even when it was long, really long. Well, I have a new hairdo now, bald and it is really nice, really cool.

I'm sure it is comfortable with bald hair, you don't even have hair to wash! :p

I dont tie my hair up when I go to sleep. It should be let free. If you are afraid of ruinning your hair, try clipping it up instead using those wide tooth clips. That is definitely less stress to your hair compared to tying it up in a tight knot. Good luck!

It seem like to have a thick hair...why don't you go for rebonding..it can bring down ur hair to look thinner and lighter and very easy to manage too. Your hair will always looks straight and actually no need to comb your hair also look nice. It is best to check out with your hair stylist see what is the best hair design that suit your face before you make your decision to change your looks.

I don't like to sleep with my hair up because it feels like it's pulling all night, but you're right, sometimes when I go to bed with it down, I wake up and there's just hair everywhere, and it seems like it stays messy no matter what I do to it. Sometimes, when it's long enough, I braid it before I go to bed, and that seems to work the best. It's out of the way, but it's not putting any strain on the roots. I hope you find a solution!

I think cutting it shorter or having it layered is the best solution to your problem. As your hair grows longer, the nutrition is not sufficient to reach to the end of every single hair strand. Tying up your hair to bed will make things worse because the pulling effect is damaging the hair scalp. You are lucky that you have not suffer hair loss due to all these. You have to trim your hair every 6 weeks in order to have healthy hair and never never tie your hair to bed....it's very bad.

Generally it is said that we should not tie our hair while sleeping because it is the time when hair grows. At first i didnt believe this and i used to oil my hair and tie it,because leaving the hair may make it tangled. But know i think leaving it freely is better thanSo,i what i suggest is before going to bed oil your hair perfectly and leave it.if hair is long then tie it.By doing so you can have a sound sleep and you can feel cool.

No, I don't usually tie my hair up before I go to sleep. I do it earlier in the day after I get home from running errands. If I'm home all day, I'll tie it up as soon as I get up. I don't like having it all in my face. It's down to my waist so it's easier to keep it tied up so it doesn't always get in my way.
As far as sleeping with it tied up, I have to admit I do sometimes. But only because I'm too sleepy to bother taking it off. I don't like sleeping with my hair tied back though as it's rather uncomfortable, especially when I sleep on my back.
Happy mylotting!

I dont tie my hair up when I go sleep because it always seems to bug me. I have decided to get my hair cut and try a new hairstyle. I love wearing my hair in a ponytail though so I want a hairstyle that I can still put my hair up in a ponytail. I wish I had some ideas for you though.

I had my hair cut last year, it was very very short. And now it starts growing again but it's not that too long. So i don't need to tie them.
Before i used to tied them with two both sides.
Maybe you can use hair cap every you sleep to avoid soaring your neck.
Happy posting.

I typically always wear my hair up. I mean, i wear it down when im with my husband because he likes it that way, but if im alone i wear it up because a lot of times when youre trying to do something it gets in the way. Every night before i go to bed i always put my hair up. I dont like trying to sleep and getting my hair tangled up all over. Not to mention if you wear a tank top to bed, sometimes your hair feels scratchy against your skin and its just uncomfortable. Also, my hair is really thick, so when i wear it down i tend to get hot really easy. I just think its easier to wear it up in a bun. I dont get as hot and its not in the way. The only reason i wont cut it off is because i look really bad with short hair.
