I just got home and didn't enjoy the drive. My Explorer was shaking side to side while I was at a red light. I could see the dust in the air just flying like little tornadoes (of course it's NOT). We're under a tornado watch and I think Midwest City is under a warning, but a few cities over, there is a big storm with hail and that has knocked out some power. I hate tornado season! So if you guys don't mind, would you please pray that the tornado junk will stay away from here? Me and another mylotter live in the same city (Norman), and I'm pretty sure we'd like to be safe from this. Ugh! My windows are rattling.
Okay, last big storm where you live was like...?

Well, last big storm we had tornado go over and had hail the size of 50 cent pieces and golf balls. The trailers sides were sucking in and out and hte trailer also felt like it was trying to learn a new dance. Trees were laying almost to the ground and rain so thick you almost wasn't able to see the next door neighbors, every thing that was light enough was being slung all over. Then the electric went out for hours. and all the streams over flooded and so was the roads. the sky got so dark it looked night in the middle of the day. But that wasn't the worst this year..the worst this year was the Ice storm we had last of January into February and lost everything because electric was out for us little over 9 days and everything was nothing but sheets of ice..and we live on a big hill so it was impossible to get off of it unless we wanted to slide down and we live up a holler so our roads didn't get the attention of main roads.

Nine days...I wonder what the elderly did in the place you lived, the ones who lived alone. The first year I was in this complex we had a horrible ice storm, and my place had no power for four days. I was blessed enough to have parents who took me in because they did have power. It would have so hard for me to manage on my own. No electicity, and that apartment was incredibly drafty. I was so worried about my elderly neighbor, one who lived in the same building. It was actaully fortunate, because she had had knee replacement the day the power went out, so she was nice and safe in the hospital for three days, and then went to stay with a friend for four more days.

The week before I went on vacation we had one night where there were tornados all around us....luckily they stayed both to the north and south of us. Unfortunately the town where my son lives just 20 miles from here did get struck by the tornado. He didn't have any damage but just a mile north of him it all got ripped up...anyway we had very scary skies and tons of rain....we lucked out and didn't get hail like they had predicted!

Last big yucky storm here was on Tuesday. I grew up in Midwest City, my nephews both live in Norman. I hope they have a place to go. We had straight line winds that pretty well put some nearby towns out of business for two days. At my work place they were having a street dance with young people from the Ulster Project. It got stormed out after less than an hour. I hope you are okay.

We're safe and it has passed over us. I know I probably sounded like an alarmist, but I remember a tornado in 1999 that killed 50 people in my area. One woman had been ripped in half. She had stopped under an overpass bridge and had got sucked out of it. She didn't know, as a lot of people don't, that being under an overpass is bad during a tornado. If one is in a car and cannot get to a home, a ditch is where they should seek shelter. I just can't get those things out of my mind, you know? Spring and summer here bring tornado warnings and tornadoes all over the Midwest and Southwest.

My mom was without power for two weeks, both electricity and gas. One of the main roads along side the Air Force Base was just wiped out. I remember that.

OHHH MYY GOODNESSS! I truly, truly was so afraid for you....and still am! I cannot imagine the fear of something so powerful, you must feel! You've had a terrible winter...and now this! You truly are brave souls...and loyal to your State, as I think I would be running...and fast! Do you get much warning...and is there any safe place? Gosh..here in B.C. we have the Provincial Emergency Program and each are has a "safe haven" and a full network set up for Safety and Protection of all persons & beast! We have a leader in each 5 square miles, and each individual is checked on...helped and protected! We are more prone to earthquakes as we sit right on the San Andreas fault....which is the same fault that caused Mt. St. Helen, Washington State to blow in 1980! I pray that you are protected from the perils....Please, please take care!

Just letting you know that I have prayed that you do not get a tornado =- it must be so scary. We are actually in hurricane season and it is so hot that we are scared. No sign of activity yet but the forecasts say that we may get four this season. Please pray for us too. We cannot survive a hurricane what with the recession that we are going through. May God help us all.

Thank you both so much. I am one of the fortunate ones as if we do get a hurricane I have enough food and water stockpiled to last me a week plus medications too. I will be able to help others less fortunate then me. The only thing to buy woul dbe to fill up a tank load of gas for car and buy gas for generator too.

I just said a prayer for y'all. As I'm typing this the weather is on tv and they just said a bad storm is headed this way (lots of high wind and hail). On the good side its suppose to be 10-15 degrees cooler here the next couple of days.

Hmmmm I haven't been trough really big storms so far. Well there was a small one that passed by the campground where we were staying for vacation. But it wasn't too bad, at least the tents stayed up :)
I think there was a tornado in here while I was at school, we were told to close the windows and all went dark for a few minutes, lots of wind and rain, but we were playing a game and hardly noticed it LOL it couldn't have been that big :)
In any case I hope that one stays away from you and that you are safe at home, and with power, so you can come over here and talk to us.

We're done with the tornado threat. Thank goodness. A couple months ago I remember staying up five hours in late at night into the morning watching the weather. There was a tornado funnel a couple miles from me. My biggest fear was protecting my dog. I mean I could put on clothes, shoes, maybe a hat to try to protect myself, but I worried about Sherlock. The tornado did touch down, but it was two miles a way.
All we have right now is lightning. I can deal with that. : )

Xenia, Ohio 1974, F-5 took out 75% of the city killed 33 people, hit with just a few seconds warning. I was in the downtown area and barely survived it many of the people I know didn't, one girl I went to school with lost 3 of her 4 kids in it. They say it had 2 tails, I do believe that, it came together at the edge of town. Anyone that lives in a area where there are constant threats of tornadoes, I feel for them. I moved shortly after to Fla. and to Louisiana after that, did I become any better off by going to the Gulf Coast where there are hurricanes, well I lost my home in 2004 to a tornado spun by Hurricane Ivan, lost another one again in 2005 from Katrina, but with a hurricane you are told days ahead of time to leave, so it isn't like only having a few minutes or not even that of warning in a tornado. Because of Katrina, I was forced to come back to Ohio where my kids are living, and every time we have bad storms I cringe. I don't have a choice right now on where I live, all I can do when there are storm warnings is ask God to keep us safe, and I pray for you all that live in such places as tornado alley.

After the May 3, 1999 tornado near me that killed 50 people, I heard stories on the news, I saw the destruction because it was so near, and my best friend lost her home (she was in the bathtub when it happened), but I really didn't get it. Then I bought the book about that day in 1999. It told stories about tornadoes here in Oklahoma during the 1930s, about some in other states, I think in Ohio as well. I couldn't get it out of my head. I still can't bear to think about some of the stuff I read. Especially first hand accounts of the 1999 one.

Hey Ambie! I will definitely be praying that you are not hit
with a tornado! I know how horrible that must be to even think
that it might happen! I hope that you will stay safe and be ok!
I am glad that you are at least home now! Do whatever it is
that they say to do and stay close to the radio or tv for the
warnings! Be very careful and whatever you have to do make
sure that you follow the warnings! And please let us know that
you are alright! Hugs and prayers being sent to you from me,
Star and Luna, Opal/Leslie

The last big storm close to my house here in Putnam County Florida was in 2004. It knocked the man that lives across the road's tree down and it landed on top of the front of his house. We had a hurricane the lights were out for a good week. I went with my mother and we went to my aunts to stay for a few days. That was a bad storm.
I sure will keep you in my prayers and your family and Norman I hope everything will be alright and the storm calms down soon.

I hope for a peaceful tornado season on your end and mine!
I dunno when we have big storms we usually get lots of rain dumped on us and my basement floods as well as several other areas. Otherwise we get alot of snow or sleet dumped on us in winter. There's no winning some years.

I've prayed for you. The last big storm had houses knocked down about a mile away from us, maybe a few miles. Power was out for a few days in that one, I think.

just tonight was a big wind storm. things blowing all over. but they say theres no tornados in AZ. i think they lie cause back in '96 there was one that scared the heck out of me. they called it a burst of something. i forget now. but it done almost as much damage as a tornado. now the big "dust storms" scare me.

I live in Singapore. It's a nice place to live in as the environment is clean. Here only has one season which is Summer. You don't have to buy any winter clothes at all. But when you are at home, you may feel hot. lol
