Expectation of our parents

As adults what expectations do you have of our parents? Should they be there for us only when we have issues to deal with?
Tell me what you expect from your parents, and/or what your children expect of you.

Expectations are the source of pain, so I never expect anything neither from my parents nor anyone else. It is better to get everything in a natural way, see parents have the best interest of their children so they always do good according to their views. Even children love their parents, so they also try their best to reciprocate parents love. So where is the need of expectation.

Thanx for the response suni, interesting comment. I however believe that we expect something from others may not be tangible but non the less ... Example, I expect others to respect my independence of thought and choices, fair enough? Not asking for much but... Happy mylotting :)

For me, family is very important which is why I expect that when I have problems, my parents will be there for me to support me and care for me and I also expect that they know that I'll be there when they need me. When I have children of my own, I would want them to expect what I also expect from my parents because I honestly believe that when all else fails, I turn to God and my family first.

Amen to that lea, God and family first. :) Thanx for the response. I as an adult though have little expectations from my mom. A little confidence that I know something about life some times is all I ask .

I expect them to leave me alone, since both of my parents have been long deceased, and I am not interested in having anyone haunt me. Awwww, sorry, but I just couldn't resist. We have no children, so there are no expectations there. We like the simple life :-)
