Design a Halloween Cake!

I know Halloween's still a few months away (this was posted July 16, 2009, for future references), but my mom and I were talking and she said that I could design a cake the way I wanted to IF and only if I could prove I had a good design for it, and that I'm artistically able to do so (since I tend to lack on that DX).
So, I started to jot down some ideas on paper, but then I realized that I have no true direction on where I would like to go. So now I'm turning to you, myLotters. What ideas do you have for a Halloween cake? I'd prefer something more subtle, nothing gory or anything like that.
Thank you in advance for all of your help!

I would do some sort of vampire cake with a coffin. The coffin would be pretty easy to construct, making the vampire out of cake would be more difficult. Although you could always make a ken doll up to look like a vampire and lay him in the cake. Making a haunted house cake would be kind of neat too. If it didn't have to be cake, I actually have a "ghosts in the graveyard" recipe that is made with pudding and can be big hit. I also, made a cheese cake one year and decorated it for halloween. If you surf the web I am sure you can find a TON of good ideas. Also, if you wanted to take the "easy" way out, wilton makes great cake pans that are in all kinds of different shapes. Then all you would have to worry about is the decoration. Don't feel bad that it is only July, I know a ton of people who start planning for Halloween this early. Good luck! You will have to let us know what you decide to go with.

Wow, those are some amazing ideas. I love how everything thinks above and beyond. I was thinking "Ok, take the cake, put some frosting on it, add a few candy witches and viola, it's a Halloween cake!" My main concern is using up most, if not all, of the cake, since I plan on making this cake from scratch. The sides may have to be cut, and it'll be a double layer cake as well. I've tried looking on the internet for ideas, but all I found were exquisite ones like those you gave me.
We'll have to see what else unfolds, and hopefully I'll be able to come up with something great.

Make an axe cake or a Jack-o-lantern cake. You can buy edible webs that you can put on top of it.
