This has been a long journey since his surgery. The infection has not gone away. They are keeping him on antibiotics to keep it under control until the bones in his back fuse together and they can take the rods back out. Then we will be on the antibiotics afterward until he is healed. He still is not standing and due to haveing to take out the baclofen pump, he is always in quite a bit of pain with his legs. When he sleeps, he is in a fetal positions due to his muscle tone and it takes alot of stretching and meds to get them to bend throughout the day. He is at least back to his normal self and acting like he is feeling better. I thank all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers. I am sorry I haven't updated much, I just jump on and off the computer all day and really just didn't have time to think about what I needed to write. Please keep the prayers and kind thoughts coming, we are far from being out of the woods.

Hey Thoroughrob! I am happy that you were able to at least
let us know how your son is doing. I wish the news was a bit
better. I haven't forgotten about you and was hoping that things
were going a bit better by now. Just keep the faith and maybe
things will get better soon! I will always keep you and your son
in my prayers and hope that each day brings a little bit more
relief for him and lessons the pain. Hang in there and whenever
you do get the chance stop by and give us an update! Until then,
do take care of yourself too and know that there are others who
are thinking of you and praying for your son too! Hugs, Opal/Leslie

Hi Teresa, I am so sorry that your son is still so sick. I have prayed for you, but I guess GOD does not always answer my prayers. I want him to be well. I will pray for him. Please pray for me also. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said my heart was slow with a slight irregularilty. I feel weak and tired, especially since our air conditioner does not cool very well. I feel like a wilted flower and sick.

Such an ordeal for you. It's good to hear your young one seems to be feeling better but it still sounds as though life is a trial for the little mite. Do you have people who come in to help you? Don't you worry about us...just know that you have friends here who care and think about you and keep you in their thoughts and prayers. Brightest blessings to you and your family.

They send someone in 5 hours a week. It isn't much, but does help. I have a very dear friend that comes every morning at 7 and stays about 3 hours. She helps me get him up and around, changes his bed while I get his breakfast and does a load of laundry. She doesn't know how much help she really is and how much I appreciate her. I wish I could think of something special to do for her that doesn't cost much, as our finances after all this are not too great. Any ideas?

You have no idea how much you and your son have been on my mind! I think about you two a lot and pray that things are on the mend but apparently not. I'm really sorry! I will continue to pray for you two and hope that your son gets on that darned road of recovery! Remember, you're never far from my thoughts!!

Infections are becoming all to common. I just got over one that attacked me when I had my appendix removed in May. I hope your son's infection goes away soon, it's such a nasty thing to deal with. I'll keep him in my prayers and you, too. This must be very hard on you--it's always worse to see our children suffer than anything we could go through.

They think they will have to remove the rods before it will totally go away. They are waiting for the bones to heal so that they can take them back out because the antibiotics cannot fight the infection that is on the hardware. It is hard to see them go through things like this.

i GUESS I DIDN'T SEE YOUR DISCUSSION ON YOUR SON & WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM BUT I am truly glad he is better & so sorry for whatever happened to him. I tell u when something is wrong w/our children it's bad. I never did handle that too well & still wouldn't even tho mine are grown. I hope he continues to improve & gets well real soon. Sorry i didn't know about this.
