The Half Blood Prince falls short of excitement.

Have you seen the 6th installment of the Harry Potter series? Well, I have and I was not as thrilled as I was in the first five films. Somehow I expected that because the book actually was not as exciting as far as the plot and characters are concerned. The Harry Potter plot pattern was different. There was no actual confrontation between Harry and Voldemort as in the past. The battle between good and evil was somehow downplayed. The minor characters do not come up as strong enough an adversary for Harry. The death of Dumbledore could have been an event to remember, in proportion to how great a wizard he had been. And Snape, as the half blood prince, could have been built up better than just a participant to an unbreakable vow. Yet, the growing up of the major characters and the audience's witnessing the cragginess of youth made the movie enjoyable to watch. The filmmakers also allowed a hi-tech spectacular treatment of the flying, the apparating, the flames, the speed, etc. That was cool. The music could have retained the original score which had been a HP trademark. By and large, I still love Harry Potter.
