I think the best batsmen in the cricket is Ricky Pointing from Australia. He a batsmen who has performed when the team required. And the best thing is that he is performing consistantly. I think he is a batsmen who plays for the team and not for his own records.

i cannot decide between Lara & Sachin.being an indian,i support Sachin.he is magical with bat.lara too is a very talented batsman.but my vote goes to Sachin.sachin jindabad!

Yes Tendulkar is a phenomenal batsman and I totally admire and respect him as one of the best batsmen in the world BUT I believe Brian Lara is the best batsman in the world. Despite the fact that he is from my country Trinidad, at present he has the world record for first class cricket which is 501 runs not out, he has the world record in Test cricket of 400 runs not out, he has the record for the most test runs passing Alan Border's record sometime last year. He is only 1 century behind Sachin and sorry to say, Lara is going to pass that soon and have the record for most test hundreds as well. Watching Lara bat is breath taking and awesome, the timing skill and finesse that he posesses. Sachin and Lara are both up there but I think Lara is in front.
