Soccer is one of the most entertaining sports to watch, and definitely the most popular world wide. It is known as the beautiful game. So why then do Americansdislike it so much? Will it ever be popular in America like other sports?

Hi bhojarajan,
I didn't agree with you to say this American dislike football (soccer you might said). They like it but not love it. The only reason they did not love this no 1 sport in the world is because they can not be no 1 (and never be the no 1). American always try to be the no 1 at ANY reason. If they can't get it they will say that is the stupid sport they ever have. The whole thing will change once they can be a World Cup winner.
Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

I'm glad you share my view just as I posted earlier. If you are conversant to watch a typical football match in America, you may be lucky that some new rules have been introduced contrary to the ones from FIFA. I feel the Americans had to introduce those new rules just to be different because they know they can't create another sport just like football (I'm sorry, soccer!).
What is the difference between cricket and baseball? What is the difference between rugby and American "football"? Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't think the Americans dislike soccer, other sports like basketball, baseball and American football just enjoy more popularity than soccer.
It seems the Americans always like to be first in everything. Where they can be first, they try to create their own sport out of the existing one JUST TO BE FIRST. For instance, I feel American football is just a bastardised version of rugby (what do you think?). If I'm wrong, I'll ask that since when has rugby been in existence and since when did American football come into existence? What of baseball? What is the difference between baseball and cricket? I feel baseball is a watered down version of cricket!
If you see the way football (I'm sorry, soccer!) is played in America, it seems new rules (contrary to the general ones from FIFA) have been introduced. This is an attempt for America to be different.
Back to the subject, soccer's popularity is growing in the USA. However, it'll take a long time before soccer can enjoy high popularity that American football, basketball and baseball currently enjoy.

wouldn't say Americans dislike football they just prefer higher scoring games like Gridiron or basketball. it is just a mentality thing, but look around the world and many games have limited geographical appeal, things like cricket and hockey.
