I am contemplating buying this product but, has anybody used it and does it really work. I want to use it for my children but, I will be opening a daycare soon so, I want to use it there also. I have seen the ads constantly on TV and the price seems very expensive but, does it actually work. What's your views?

This type of program is a ripoff because many studies have shown that even if a very young child does learn to read, using it, thee is no advantage when he enters school. There is no point in rushing young children into learning to read, when many of them aren't neurologically ready, and trying to learn just to make Mommy happy can create unnecessary emotional problems. Also, if you are planning to open a daycare center, I would definitely not use a reading program. Unless you have a teaching certificate *and* have gotten the parents' permission, you will be setting yourself up for trouble.

I have to disagree with you about the no advantage going into school. I would rather have my children know how to read before they get into school instead of letting the school systems just pass my kids without teaching them how to read at all. When I was in school the teachers did not teach us how to read. I had many friends that could not read even in high school because the teachers believed that it was the parents job to teach their own children.
The advantage is that you child is better prepared to enter the schooling system and will require less teaching in the reading area. The child becomes more confident and can reach their own goals in confidence. The teachers can teach more effectively and the students will be able to understand more if they can understand the materials they are given for assignments. That and their comprehension for the assignments can guarantee better grades.
I wish that this kind of program was out when I was younger. I know for a fact from seeing the videos that I could have benefitted greatly from the hands on approach that the videos promote.
The emotional problems are worse when a child enters school and is not prepared for the learning environment. If a child is not being taught the basic skills such as respecting others, listening, sitting still, being quiet, ABC's, 123's, sharing, etc. then the child will revert to what they know and become uncontrollable because they do not feel safe while being introduced to a structured environment. If there is no help from the parents in this area before entrance to school then the child may have emotional issues, psychological issues, behavioral problems, and learning issues. Your child must be prepared by you not the school systems. It only makes it harder on the teachers when a child comes into the school system without learning the basics.
So for the most part it is the parents that have to set their child up for success while it is the teachers job to help the parents in establishing the future goals of the child and to help them learn to their highest potential. Not teaching your child, or not being involved in the education process of your child is abuse in my opinion. And parents who just drop their kids into the school systems for the goverment to govern the education for their child should be put parenting classes to learn how to interact with their kids. We are parents and we need to be responsible for EVERY step in our children's lives until they are able to make their own decisions.

I have seen the commercials on tv, and it looks like it might work for those who are ready to read. The truth is that until the child can comprehend it won't matter what you do. If they are mentally ready for those processes then it will work well for them. If their brains just are not ready to recognize such things they won't until they are developementally ready. Most children are probably ready, but it takes different things for different kids!

I have to tell you that "Your Baby Can Read" REALLY WORKS!!!!
My two year old twins have been watching the first disc for about 10 days and they already are doing the motions, speaking better, and can recognize the words!! I love this program! It is well worth $200 ($36 per month).
The idea is to have them watch the starter for about 30 days, then move on to disc 1, then disc 2, then disc 3, and lastly the review with about 30 days in between. My girls love the music in these videos! They scream and dance and even try to sing along with the songs. It is sooooo cute!
I encourage you to really think about getting the set! I was able to tell a huge difference in my girls within about a week.
Good luck!
