From what I've noticed, in order to get that many reponses, the subject is usually a filthy one. I haven't ever received 100 reponses, because I don't like to discuss trashy topics. I think it's a cheap and lazy way to get responses.

The two best ways to do this are to have a very large network of friends, most of whom will see your discussion and respond to it, and/or to post a discussion to an extremely popular interest. Look at the "new discussion" page, and it'll list all of your interest tags, in order from most popular to least popular. If you start a new discussion in the most popular ones (the first ones) you're liable to get a lot of views, and a lot of responses.
