why do people spin their tires?

I would like to know why people, mostly young men, spin their tires and spew gravel all over other peoples vehicles. There is a young man who drives into our apartment complex to drop off a friend and as he drives in he spins his tires shooting gravel all over and then when he drops off his friend he spins his tires on the way out spitting gravel all over our vehicles. As I am only one of a few that is parked during the day our vehicles get liitle hits on them. So I ask, why do people do this?

young man spin their wheels because they look really cool! i love it, even though when your inside the car you can't see it but the faces the people make who are outside the car is pretty cool. it makes you feel good about yourself and car. i wouldn't buy it but i'll be happy if my boyfriend puts it on his car. i like pimped out cars.

I think that young guys spin there tires just to act cool and let everyone around them think that they are something special to have a car that can do that. I will be honest I used to do that when I was young to get attention of the girls that might have been around. I do it today but thats only because I might be mad and want to leave a certain spot in a hurry or I might try to pull out in front of someone and I spin my tires to go faster.
