In India smoking prohibited in Public Places like Railway Stations, Parks, Hotels,
Hospitals, Offices and factories. But I am seeing many people smoking on the Public Places. Nobody is implementing this rule
Is smoking banned in your rspective countries ? If yes, whether the public is following the rule ? Whether the authorities implemented properly ?

it's banned here to smoke in New york to smoke in the subway, but there is nothing to let people know about this rule... i am a stress smoker, so sometimes when i'm stressed i used to smoke in the opened subway stations where it's basically the same as outside on the street. I did it every now and then for a couple of years, till once i got a ticket for it... this is when i learned that it's banned... they wouldn't have that many people smoking in there if they simply put a no smoking sign, but they don't. so everyone smokes anyway...

I quit smoking now, but i wish they would let everyone know exactly what places people are not supposed to smoke, because i see people smoke in the subway all the time, they simply dont' know it's illegal. Restaurants enforce these laws, so people know you can't smoke there, but nowhere in the subway does anyone even bother puting up a sign or let people know in any other way. I think that simply passing laws doesn't work, they should let these laws be known. Something as simple as putting up a "no smoking" sing would help a lot. and it's much cheaper then to pay the police to patrol the subway stations and other public places so much.

Hello mdvarghese, the first part of the ban was introduced here in Greece on the 1st of July and I don't think it's going to catch on as at least half the population smokes and they don't like being told what to do, absolutely hate it.
My take on this is that the law which be much more strictly enforced in places like Athens where taverna owners will be fined if their customers smoke, but out in the more rural areas it is just thought of as a laugh but causes much consternation amongst the locals.
Who will enforce it, the smoking policeman. Will the smoking taverna owners who sit with their smoking customers enforce it. Plus we live an outdoor life so it is not as much of an issue. Will the bank cashiers stop smoking at their stations, probably, but they will just walk off and have one outside leaving a queue of customers who thanks to our ticketing system in banks will also be able to wander outside to join the cashier and vent off about this new law. Beaurocracy will run even slower as everyone heads outside to smoke instead of getting on with their jobs whilst smoking. People will feel harrassed and angry if this ban is actually implemented and will flaunt it at every turn.

Where I live there is a smoking band in most places... except for bars and some truck stops... In Wisconsin I know that all public places have a smoking ban... there may be the exception for a couple small town bars and restaurants... You can get tickets for lighting up.. and also asked to leave.. I smoke but I do not have a problem smoking outside..

There are only parts here in our country where smoking is banned. That is good but how I wish that it will be banned in majority of the places. This is just in respect to those who are not smoking and also to pay respect to the place. Love begets love, so is respect. Respect begets respect.

Here in the U.S. it isn't taken seriously, because people are supposed to stand within so many feet of the entrance of a building, but I can still smell the smoke, because people don't stand far enough away from the entrance. But they get away with it all the time. So I don't know why this rule is even in place. It's a joke.

Hello mdvarghese this is checkmail and yes i too saw some or may be you can say a lot of peoples smoking in the public places in India.Smoking pollutes the air so much that i just feel diszyness and have feeling of vomiting too.My whole day goes worse due to some peoples smoking in public places.Yes it is banned by the government but still peoples use to continue saying that without us there is no government. The future law and its implementation is really getting under doubt.
