Can not be friends after breaking up. If you have deeply loved this man, he was once in your life an integral part of, then how to convert the role of the as if nothing had happened to him as a friend? This For most people, I am afraid that is hard to do.

It all depends on you and him. I was married for over twenty years when my wife divorced me. We still are friends today. I think the thing to remember is that the two of you were friends as well as lovers so there must be something wonderful that you saw in each other.
