Does anybody take their own food to the zoo?

I'm going to the zoo with my family tomorrow and I'm extremely excited to go see all the animals. I was told it would be a good idea to take my own food to save money while I'm there (which I'll probably spend at the gift shop anyway). Does anybody else do this? What would be a good idea to take that would keep well while I'm there wandering around? I don't want to take all junk food, I'd like to keep it somewhat healthy.

Oh I love going to the zoo, but unless it is going to be a family picnic I prefer to go to the cafe or take away food part, but then I love junk food...I love to buy a big bucket of chips and feed the seagulls..I think it is time I took another visit to the zoo, thanks for reminding me.

haha. I love to go feed the birds, always have since I was a kid. I don't think I'll be able to talk my husband into buying food there. If he doesn't tell me what he wants to take soon he'll end up with PBJ and maybe a banana. :)

well just so long as he doesn't eat the banana in front of the monkey cage that would be cruel...

for me,bringing your own food can really save a lot of money.whether I'll go to the zoo or somewhere else,I prefer bringing my own food.you feel secure because you are the one who prepared it.also, you can pack something delicious and nutritious at the same time.no need to spend money eating on fast food chains.

It's fine that you are taking care of your health; but you should take care health of the animals in the zoo also. You should not give or allow the animals in the zoo to eat your food. It can harm their health. You should not even leave the left- out food in the zoo. Because of this reason many zoos do not allow the visitors to take the food items insde the zoo.
