I live in an old house with lots of small spaces for a ferret to hide. Too many small spaces to plug up. I want to let her out to enjoy some freedom, and play with the kitties. I am up for any suggestions pertaining to cheap, versatile/moveable, effective ways of keeping a ferret in a large contained area. Ideally, I would like an entire room for the ferret and the cats. One that has carpet covered boards stretching across the room at various angles and heights, so they can jump around. And of course cubby holes and seats next to the windows. And in an easily accessible corner is a huge cat litter box, that they can't miss!
So I got a little off topic with the cats, but cats and ferrets play together most of the time. What have you guys done for your ferret's freetime outside the sleeping cage? Do you have any good ideas for finding cheap reusable materials that aren't harmful to the animals? Any ideas are appreciated!

I had ferrets for many years and trying to ferret proof your home is far more extensive than you would think. I would keep mine on a leash or in their pen when roaming in the house. It is incredible the amount of mischief they get into and sometimes right before your very eyes... lol
Exercise pens are great additions to any home with one or multiple ferrets. Even the most inactive ferrets in the largest cages need to get out and stretch their limbs. Plus, your pets have to go somewhere when you're cleaning their homes and litter boxes. This pen allows your ferrets to roam indoors or out while being safely contained within your view. Here is a link to where I purchase my ferret pen. You can find them on sale and sometimes used. Check your local Free-cycle for one. I also included several links with information on ferret proofing.
