My daughter came home from the pet store with a pet snake! It is a ball python and said it could only grow up to 5 feet! Has to stay warm though. She doesn't know anything about taking care of a snake. does anyone have any advice on how to take care of it? She is so excited to have a pet of her own, and a snake never mind you.

You are a much more understanding parent then most that I know. If I had a child that wanted a snake for a pet, it wouldn't happen. I'm terrified of snakes. One of my brothers has a snake and a tarantula...my Mom prays that they never get loose in her house.

If I had to choose between the snake and tarantula, I would choose the snake, I don't like spiders too much, I think she is already getting tired of it for it doesn't do anything, but climb in her hair like a hair tie. she went to the doctors with it in her hair, and they actually thought it was a hair tie until she told them otherwise, they all played with it.
I hope it doesn't get loose or my husbands cats or daughters dog will have a nice snake, I hate to say.

I think it is not good to have a pet snake.Unlike cats or dogs snakes have some characters and it could not recognize its owner.Even though is it brought up as a pet we need to accept it as a dangerous one.So think and take action.
Thanks or the discussion!!!

I am trying to get her to give it away. But the pet store sold it to her, I thought you had to be a certain age to buy pets at the store? she is 17. she also got a tattoo without my permission, I thought you had to be 18 for that as well.
She is a good kid, just rushing to grow up. Also, it doesn't help when there is people out there that will do tattoo, etc regardless of the rules. Anyways, I think she is getting tired of it.
