Today is weekend, and I suppose get up really late, and not suppose to be up early in the morning. Around 8:30 A.M. in the morning, the outside noise just keep on buzzing. My next door neighbor pushing his lawn mower cutting the grass on his front yard. I just can't believe how much noise his machine bothers me so much. Even I close the window, I can still hear it. It is really annoying. I want to make a complaint on him, but on what ground? He has right to cut his grass, and the sun is already up in the morning. Pretty much, nothing I can do about it. I just have to move to the living room, and sleep on the sofa. Don't you hate it when your next door neighbor cutting grass early in the morning?

My neighbor does the exact same thing. Our family likes to sleep in on Sundays and he is always out there at about 8:30 cutting his grass. My room is on that side of the house so it always wakes me up and everyone else can hear it too. This went on for a while until one day I brought it up in conversation and then he realized that it might be irritating for others. He has a small daughter who is up early so it never really occurred to him that others like sleeping later. After we talked about it he apologized and now cuts his lawn later on Sundays. I don't think you should complain but try to joke about it in conversation and maybe he will get the hint like my neighbor did. Good luck!

"Early in the morning" is relative... I slept in until 8:30 this morning and it was late for me. I usually am up by 6:30 and sometimes 5:30. Maybe your neighbor is an early riser and 8:30 is late for him, too? Have you tried talking to him about it in a friendly manner? He may not realize he's disturbing your sleep... or if it's like it has been here, he's trying to beat the heat. I wouldn't want to mow at noon in the heat of the day.

8:30am! Gosh, I'd be ticked lol. In the area where I live, nobody mows or does noisy tools like that until 10 am. It's kind of an unspoken rule lol. The houses where I live are pretty far between, but still, it's nice to not have that kind of disturbance in the early morning. Geez, if it was me, I'd have to get myself some earplugs!

Have you thought of politely asking your neighbour if he could start his mowing a little later in the morning.

That sucks I know the feeling of cant sleeping because someone is mowing the lawn early in the morning because my parents do it do sometimes and it is very hard to sleep through it because usally the lawn mowers are just so loud. It should be illegal to mow the lawn early in the morning lol.

Yes 8.30 am is pretty early, I guess your neighbour is quite an early bird! Perhaps there is something you could do though - I know that in some councils there are regulations concerning noise pollution and times within which you are allowed to make noises which may be heard outside of your house. It may be worth checking with your local council (or equivalent) to see if he is allowed to make noise at that time and then someone official could have a word with him. Also you could ask them to keep it confidential so he wouldn't even know it was you that complained!

I dont think you can blame him. Blame yourself that you are sleeping at that time. Its morning. One should get up by atleast 6 am every day. that will keep one healthy. your neighbour is just doing his work within his property. you cannot stop him. that is the time he finds it appropriate as he can finish his work and get on with others later in the day. Rather than complaining and sleeping later on a weekend, get up early and be active. That will keep you healthy.

Ok guilty...I used to be that irritating neighbor. I am an early riser and I always started on my lawn between 7:30 and 8:00 on Saturdays. I never even thought about it. It made sense to me to get started before the sun got really hot and be finished by noon. Then one day my neighbor came over and asked me if he could talk to me about a probelm he had. He explained that he worked midnight shift and he was unable to sleep because of my early mowing so I switched it and now I mow during the evening hours. Just talk to your neighbor about it. I would be willing to bet that he isn't even thinking about it. Hope it works out for you!

It is understandable weekends are the only chance for young people to wake up late in the morning. And cutting grass is really noisy, your neighborhood should have been more considerable. When we repair or decorate our apartments, care must be taken that no big noise be made at weekends. Some home owners would inform neighbors of the schedule in the attempt of showing apology and gaining understanding.

Hee,hee....sounds funny!! I know I may sound insensitive but that's the way the world is. Havta buy ear plugs or be nice to your neoghbour and let her/him know how you feel and could she/he do it later after you have had your sleep and maybe you could help her/him out with mowing the grass later in the day. That would be lovely!! Wouldn't it be?!

I hate when some noisy sound is disturbing me during my sleeping time. But as you said,it is already morning arnd 8.30AM and you don't have the right to make a complain as your neighbour is doing his own stuff at his own place.Maybe you can take a nap later in the afternoon.

Hi, Understand your feeling. But we do not have a personal garden here so no mower noise most of days. Three to four days in a month, there would a mower to cut public garden grass. Usually I would be awekened by the noise. Just like you, I felt it would be a wonderful idea if let the mower disappeared right now. But that is would not going to happen. Then I would go on my sleeping anyway.

It's the battle of society. lol. I'm kind of a heavy sleeper and my house walls are fairly thick, so it's not usually a problem for me, but I can definately understand. My mom was pissed at the neighbors once, so she was going to turn on the weed wacker at like 8 in the morning and do it right next to their house. That would have been messed up. ha. But she didn't... Good luck to ya'. Maybe try some of those really cheap earphones, the little rubber ones or whatever material they are.

I have a neighbor with a barking dog. Play some white noise or pink noise. You will be surprise how loud you can play it and sleep good. It will block out most all noises. You can download a generator to work on your computer or they sell cds you can get. The pink noise works best for me. Good luck!

Oh that is sux~~~ Especially during weekends (I forgive myself to sleep in during weekend, waking me up before I want to is unforgivable) Luckily, my neighbors won't wake me up with such methods. On the right is an old lady who probably cut grass via hands, not mowing them. On the left has less grass to cut. Their land is almost barren except for the big tress (we live in a village, everyone got their piece of own land) You should prepare some cotton or earpieces by your bedside. It won't help to talk but you can put some into your ears before continue sleeping if it happen again.

Hi...Well I guess this kind of situations are situations that concern the right of neighbours. I do agree its anooying especially when you have planned to wake up late and have a good rest. However this kind of things you need to give in as I am sure your neighbour is not going to go on sutting grass every morning. You took the right choice of moving to the living room and continue your sleep. I am sure he did not do it purposely but with a purpose of only cutting the grass. Take it easy friend Thanusha
