I was flipping through the channels and came across a show called Bite Me with Dr. Mike. This guy is crazy! He travels around the world and lets different thing bite him or infect himself with curable inflictions for the show. Is it about the money or the fame? I don't know but it's pretty out there. I will say it goes very in depth about disease and such so it is pretty educational but to think he infects himself and lets things bite him is really weird. I'm posting a link to a preview of his show. What do you think about this guy?

I think he is a moron. I didn't even want to see someone as stupid as that. I always heard it takes all kinds.

Oh I've seen the commercials on t.v. He's crazy. The previews don't actually say he infects himself or let's things bite him that aren't harmful, but well I guess I could only assume that. They probably don't want to tell you he's not in any danger, because face it, the audience wants to atleast have the illusion this guy is putting himself in so much danger.
To a certain extent he is, because he never knows when something posionous might bite him. I'm sure he's getting paid a bundle, truckloads probably delivered to his house. I just wonder if he has a wife and kids, and just what they think?

Probably so, I would think he'd have to entice some of these creatures so that they do bite him. I just wonder how many times he will or has had to go to the hospital because of these things. I guess people will do anything for money now.

Jen, seriously? I look at something like that and just sigh...
I'm sure that-- in his world-- he believes he's doing something "worthwhile," and perhaps even scientific/noble. Maybe I'm just old and cynical, but I can't shake the feeling that he's just another example of how we (meaning the human race, or maybe just "people in the west") have reached this point of needing to see increasingly bizarre things in order to get our attention. Think about all those medical programs showing horribly deformed people, or exotic medical conditions... is that really "entertainment?" 20 years ago, this stuff would never have left a laboratory/hospital setting... NOT saying the research shouldn't be done... but calling it "entertainment," and putting it on my TV? Really?
To each their own, I guess. I'd rather watch Seinfeld re-runs.

Hi Denmarkguy! I love the Seinfeld re-runs. I'd rather watch them too. I know what you mean about the medical programs. They go a to far sometimes. I'm with you on "entertainment". I don't think it is entertaining to watch deformities and surgeries. Thanks for responding and take care.

Interesting Jen; I had not heard of Dr Mike. If this is not staged, which I tend to believe it isn’t, this man is definitely a bit of a weird case. Surely you can educate people without subjecting your body to bites, infections and the like. Yep, he’s nut!

Jen-
I recall hearing about it, it's on like Discovery or something right? (Or am I thinking of another show lol). I can't imagine letting myself get bit. I've no pain tolerance and sure as heck wouldn't want to have something that could kill me bite me.
I remember a special I watched with my husband on things in Australia that could kill you. One of them was the jellyfish. (The box I think). Well, there are smaller jelly fish that don't kill you but leave in severe pain !!! Heck no!!!

Hi Anora! My cousin got stung by a jellyfish once when we were children and vacationing in Florida. It was so scary. He still has a scar on his leg where it got him. I have a thing about swimming in the ocean now because of it.
That show is on the Travel Channel. He goes to different countries and exposes himself to all kinds of crazy stuff. Thanks for responding.

Theatrics now days. Can you really beieve someone would do that? I don't. I think it is staged. For money he might do certain ones but not all. He is weird. I really can't believe anyone would inflict themselves like this for money or fame. Not all of it anyway. No.

That does sound a bit idiotic! LOL! I think I remember in the distant past watching maybe 5 minutes of a similar show and when I saw what it was about I changed the channel and forgot about it. I forgot the name of the show until you memtioned it. One of these days he's going to 'bite off' more than he bargained for!
