Key of G ..Just kidding.Well I think its solely based on your inspiration and imagination.Sometimes you just walking along the road and it can strike you .Otherwise If I deliberately want to create something new I just take me guitar start playing few notes ,if it sounds good than find out the complementary chords...But it only works sometimes.

You can start a song with so many different musical or lyrical parts or ideas, but it all has to work to make a quality song, a song with x-factor attributes, such as are stated above.

Well X-factor is of course necessary but the thing is nobody born with it.You dont expect that you wake up one day and you get it.It comes through experience ..I mean if you look upon great bands like Led Zepp ,they produced their finest piece 'Stairway to heaven ' in Led Zeppelin 4 ,their seventh album .

Yes, reaching the desired quality takes experience. For myself, I like to aim for the best qualities in each song too.

number 1 key is about your life, something that you can refer back to and say, "this was the best time i ever had" or "this time of my life was important"
it doesnt have to relate directly, but it should somehow be embedded within your song/lyrics/music

Rhythm I think, there has to be that natural rhythm...every style has its own and I guess one just has to get it right for that style...but all music is good music to someone...
