Many of us use public transport like bus/train so in these situations do you initiate a conversation with your co-passengers or wait for them to start?

It all depends on the situation. I might or might not!
1) If I notice a foreign tourist looking at the map and
seems confused, I might make the first move to approach
him/her - is there anything that I can help. Because when
I was in Hong Kong, Spain, New York, I met so many nice
people who offer us help when we didn't ask. That is so sweet!
2) If somebody was reading an article that is very interesting.
I might start the discussion especially hot topic on politics,
current issues etc.
3) If a group of people where chit-chatting something of my interest
or they have the wrong facts of something, I might just join in..
4) If someone approach me politely, I will join in the dicussion.

I usually start a conversation if my co-passengers not doing anything..If he/she look serious or busy with something I won't start. It's nice to have conversation while use public transport.. we can talk or share something,, once I found that my co-passengers will become my neighbor 1 month after and it's true,, Furthermore, if we meet again in that public transport we can greet each other and become co-passengers again =)
