I have a huge collection of Magnetic poetry pieces. You know, those little kits you can find in book stores and such that are just a little box filled with hundreds of words on small magnetic pieces? My fridge is COVERED with them lol. I have all the words organized alphabeticly on the door of my fridge (that took FOREVER!) and i use the door of the freezer as my artistic canvas. Every so often i get inspired by a couple of words and create a poem around them. I always write the poems down afterwards so i can have record of them, so i don't lose the poem when i take it apart to use the word in another. It really adds a whole new aspect to my poetry writing because it imposes limits, as there are only so many words you can use, as you only have a set number of magnets. I sometimes tend to get more creative and use a lot of euphemisms to get my point across. Here are a couple i came up with that i would like to share #1 Chant to Worship And adore me For i am the sweet goddess Together we will Manipulate and Destroy His life #2 Whispered screams fall from her tongue And shadowed visions of beauty Play in her head As she trudges through The elaborate void of life And drives franticly on the road of lust. Though she aches for love There is none. Here am i Locked in my sordid eternity #3 Smear of hot wax. Smooth sweaty skin. Smell of bitter blood. Flood of raw lust. Take me... ...please. Soaring through blackness. Letting go. Falling from above. The ache is gone For the moment.. But the urge still lives. Who is next? #4 (this one took a while to put together....and loses some meaning when you can't see the "form" it took on the fridge) I want to dream... a path of profound possibilities ...and run a road full of peacful relief ...and drive a sea of overflowing comfort ...and swim a sky enormous with beauty ...and soar I want to sooth my heartache, mend my fragile spirit, recover faith in tender love, remember how kisses felt, and feel joy. I need to create a balance of my inner self with all the drama of everyday life. And slip into a life of positive energy and pure happiness to live I need to rake away the shadowy doubt present in my darkest dreams to scream through the lies so they no longer manipulate the voice of truth to stop the frantic chaos from crushing my weary soul to tear out the bitterness and shame which rip through genle being like a dull rusty knife. To transform.

You've given me an idea. I wonder if I could use those magnetic puzzle pieces to inspire my neices to work on their reading... It might be fun to use them in the classroom as well for some kind of cooperative activity.

Oh totally...that would be an awesome idea! They have kits availiable suited specially for children. You can check out the website @ www.magneticpoetry.com But here's an idea that might work even better for you...particularly in a classroom environment where you would need a larger amount of pieces. It would be really simple to make your own! If you go to a craft supply store you can but sheets of magnetic backing that come with one adhesive side, then just come up with a list of words you want to use and print them out on sturdy computer paper, and stick the paper to the magnetic backing an cut out words. If you make your own, you can make the font bigger, so the pieces wouldn't be so small (grat for younger children) and you can also personalize the word sets for the kids. If your neices have certain things they are into, such as animals, or princesses or what not, you can use more words that would allow them to be creative about something they are passionate about. Or in a classroom setting, use words that might be on their vocabulary lists an such.

I was actually thinking about making my own. I think I may even have a sheet of that magnetic material someplace.

Have you ever seen or used the product i am talking about here? The little magnetic words that you put together to make poetry from? They are quite fun and intriguing. I have all of mine on my fridge door, and my friends love to stop and play with them, and put togethr little sayings and stuff.
