Yesterday we had an "army" of them coming in from the front door heading across the carpet and towards the pantry, you could hardly see them, but stopped them before they reached there destination of discruction, then found the cat bowl was black, and you can guess what was in it! yuk!

oh these pesky australian ants hurt! I expected the big red ones to bite but not just the little black ones! and they hurt too!
Back in NZ I've only ever seen little black ones and they dont bite, when I lie out on the grass at home I can just watch them moving about and doing their thing, but here if I even step on the grass they climb onto my feet and start eating me!! evil things lol

-.-'' i dont see which country do not have ants. Anyway most of the countries will have ants, but different species only. In my country i hate 3~4 types of ants, one is the big head red ants which run fast and fierce, the second one is the big black ants with long teeth xD (sorry for my bad english, dont know how to describe)-something like a stapler, the other one is the ants with some green in color and very giant in size, and they can fly as well, the most irritate one cause most likely they will come with manys and fly towards you and the last one i hate is the small red ants that flooding on your foots -.-

I am from the USA and we have ants here. We have a lot of small black ants, then we have some red ones too. We had a lot in my front yard when I was growing up (the black ones). Now the red ones, I am afraid of because someone told me when i was a child that they could get me real sick & I end up in the hospital.

Im from England, and there are ants here but they are not a real problem. There are basicly little tiny black ones, that dont even bite, but they do tickle!! And then there are little tiny red ones that bite, but they are not poisenous or dangerous or anything.

I live in Nicaragua and yes there are so many ants here. I see three different sizes of them that are very common here. There are some really large ones here that hurt a lot when they bite. And some tiny, tiny ones that the locals say doesn't bite but they have bitten me. These ants seem to have the most keen sense of smell that I have ever seen. If you drop a crumb or kill a bug, within minutes they appear from nowhere in swarms so I am very careful not to do that or to clean it up right away.

I'm from the southern US. We have several kinds of ants here. The worst kind though are Fire Ants. They are awful and they also bite and really painful. They also can get into things like air conditioners and actually cause damage to the wiring. They are hard to kill too. I hate them!

I have recently moved to Tasmania and have discovered a very nasty type of ant down here called the Jummping Jack. Aparently a lot of people are allergic to them and they have a nasty bite. I moved from Queensland and had never heard of them before. The old green ant was the worst we had. Has anyone heard of these jumping jacks and are they as bad as everyone says?

I live in Australia too and I know just what you mean. I got a bullant bite on my foot a few days ago and it's stil throbbing. Damn bullants! Damn them to hell!
However, my nanna got bitten by a fireant, and she was in a heck of a lot more pain than I was with the bullant. So I feel for her.
