When I was very young, our wicked teacher explained that those people who drank the brain juice from the brain of the monkeys while the monkeys were still alive. That was a very scary thought. Once I spoke with a Beijing lady, and she described a dishes of tofu with some eels (or worms) inside. Apparently, the eels or worms were cooked alive, so that they would enter the tofu while the water was slowing coming to a boil. This way of cooking sounded very disgusting. I doubt I can eat the dish, knowing how the cooking is done. The most disgusting food I ever tried was fried sparrows. The sparrows looked like burnt corpse, with all the bones still intact. It was really tasty, even though I felt uneasy eating that. Fortunately we did not try the fried ants dish. I think I do not have the kind of stomach to swallow the fried ants. What is the most disgusting food or dishes you ever tried?

My friend! I haven't deliberately try to eat any disgusting food before, if i did, probably it is out of my knowledge. Sometimes when i eat in certain restaurants, due to their culture and less emphasis on hygiene and public well being, i might be fed with some disgusting food like ingredients crawled all over by roaches or rat while sitting in their kitchen or storage room, got a chance to taste some of the unborn baby in the unhatched eggs of some weird creatures managed to prosper and populate in the restaurant, in that sense, i might as well eaten some disgusting dishes somewhere along my life, but i just don't know the name of that delicacy . I did ate bat meat and snake meat cooked with oriental herbs when i am a boy for medical purposes, it is really tasty , but not consider disgusting food for me , probably it is disgusting for some people who like to criticize and judge others harshly.

I appreciate your recommendation of delicacy in China, but i don't believe i will miss all of those food, so i will rather pass that on. lol! China is not a country i want to visit any time soon, I think i will probably not get to see how disgusting the food can be or what kind of man will stomach those food.

Hi Lampar, I think as long as we do not step into the kitchen and see all the roaches running about, we will not feel disgusted with the food! The only exception is when the roaches ended in that pot of curry, then that is very disgusting. I do not have a chance to eat bat meat yet, and i enjoy snake meat herbal soup. That was very nice, and "heaty". I think you have strong stomach, maybe you can try the live scorpions and fried ants next time you visit China.

I try to not knowingly eat anything too disgusting, but I had frog legs in a restaurant once, and there is a place near us that sells fried alligator. I think I am going to try that sometime. That will probably be the weirdest food that I have ever eaten. I also have had Venison and quail. They were not too disgusting just something differnt.

Hi Snowy, I love to eat frog legs, especially in herbal soup. I agree that eating frog legs, venison and quail are not really disgusting food. I have tried all of these before, even alligator meat in herbal soup. I think you have to travel to China to try out all the disgusting food. Can you imagine those tourists eagerly munching the live scorpion? I wonder how they manage to put the wriggling scorpion into their mouth. I will not try it, I dont even want to see the stupid insect.

Sushi is the most disgusting thing I ever tried. I know that many people love it but the thought of raw fish is revolting to me. However, I believe in trying everything at least once and worked up my courage for it. It was awful!! Although since then I've had to write articles on Sushi and I believe it was the Sushi itself I disliked, not the fish. All I could taste was the rice/vinegar, as I remember. It came from a local delicatessen so if I ever try it again it will be from a reputable Sushi place.

Hi Dragon54u, actually I do not really like sushi, since I like my rice hot, and I like rice with soup, not cold rice with raw fish. I love the raw fish dishes (sashimi), but I hate the wasabi, once I used too much wasabi, and my head nearly burst, and the tears keep on dropping. So embarrassing! I like to eat raw fish with a little sashimi, for the sake of killing the germs or whatever in the raw fish.

Hi Hulaboy, I do not think I have tried that, since I find the name so foreign to me. I take note that I will not even want to try this Natto after hearing what you say. i love Japanese food, and I do not want any bad memory to destroy my enjoyment of Japanese food. I love the sashimi, and all the other fish dishes.

For me, the most disgusting food that I've eaten was the hump of a camel. I had it in China and it was one of the ingredients being served together with steam-boat dinner. I've taken a few pieces because was having dinner with my customers and they took it for me. It was a bit crunchy when it was cooked but my mind kept thinking camel's hump inside my mouth.....yuck!!!

My goodness, you mean to eat the whole thing, without cutting into smaller pieces? That must be a terrible experience! I will definitely ask the restaurant to cut into tiny pieces, so that I do not need to see the awful shape.

I was fond of eating foods dipped in a fish sauce called "Bagoong". It was lately that I have discovered that this sauce was made up of spoiled fish and processed by dirty-feet workers and the whole procedure is a mess. I started feeling vomiting whenever I see Bagoong over the dishes.

wow Frinces, how you manage to keep healthy after eating such disgusting fish sauce "Bagoong"? Maybe this disgusting fish sauce makes you stronger oh! I wonder if there is better way to make the fish sauce. I think that the company can make equally tasty fish sauce without using rotten fish. I hope I do not know the source of all my food, especially the tinned products, otherwise I will feel disgusted too.

I would never willingly try a food that might be disgusting. If it doesn't look and smell good I am not going to consume it. That said, the worst food is more or less so because of texture and the way it looks before it is cooked and that would have to be oysters. I have tried to be openminded about different foods as an adult but some things are just not appealing.

Hi Canellita, I love oysters, even though I prefer the cooked oysters rather than the raw oysters. Over here, many people love the fried oyster omelette dish. I get to eat this a lot when I eat out with certain friends. They have high cholesterol problem, but can't resist ordering a plate of fried oyster omelette. They just want to eat a bit, so I get to eat all! Maybe you can try that! It's really very nice. Some people are really weird, they go all the way out to try disgusting food, such as live scorpions, fried ants or whatever exotic (disgusting) food.

Ugh! I do not like eggs. They are not easy for me to digest. I have to doctor up the eggs when I cook with herbs and add a lot of cheese and tofu and veggies to my omelets. My S.O. likes eggs so I cook them for him but never just for me. i just recently bought bagels and cream cheese and lox so we can have an alternative. This weekend we have had a lot of fruit.

Hi Canellita, except for hard boiled eggs, I love to eat all other kinds of eggs. I dont know why, my body just can't digest hard boiled eggs. Every single time I tried hard boiled eggs, I have problems for a few days. I just wonder what kind of food they feed the chicken! Most of the times I dont really care, just hope that eating eggs daily do not cause health problem for me in the long run. I think you are determined to eat healthy, with all the fruits and herbs in the diet.

Oh my goodness, that is really disgusting. I'm surprised you even dare to put the worms into your mouth. I dont think I have the courage to look at the worms, much less to try to eat them. Where on earth did you go to get such disgusting food? Please tell us, so that we won't ever go to this place.
