I just had my lunch outside today(Sunday) and to my surprise the drink that I order had gone up by about 10%.Even our bus ,taxi and public transport has increase their fare lately.Recently, our National Electric Board is submitting to our goverment to approval the increase in electricity tariff even though the price of petrol has gone down trmendously.Seem like daily expenses is increasing and our hard income stay because of the recession. No increment and no bonus but tons of work. Some even out of job.We as a normal citizen are getting poorer day by day because of inflation. How is inflation affecting you?How do you handle inflation?Eat out less, spend less, look for part time, look for other source of income..............

It affects me in a way that I just really watch how I spend my money. If it is not necessary to spend money then we dont spend it. It is a bit tough out there right now but it will get better. Right now is all about being smart with your finances. Shop Smart because it really does help a lot.

Hubby is able to work OT at work, so he has been doing that. We made a larger garden so we could freeze more for the winter. He has been crabbing more so we can stock our freezer, for the winter, of yummy crabcakes. To buy crabs or crabcakes out is very expensive, so for about $20 a week we enjoy them the first day, freshly steamed, then we pick the rest to make crabcakes. We are eating out less and when we do it is at all you can eat buffets for lunch, dinner is so much more expensive. We only do that about once a month.

Hi Joe, Recession is hitting everywhere and everyone so we have to make ends meet, we never gout to eat but buy fres veggies and meat and cook from scratch, not micro wave dinners or packaet food, and when I cook one day, it will last for the next day, if I cook two pieces of chiken I make stews or curry so it last for two day, but it is hard to save on electrict as we do use it a lot but save on gas, my hubby uses his bike to work and I walk to the shops. It seems like everywhere you go the price has gone up...we can barely scrap enough together to get buy anymore & things are so slow at work. So we have been trying to set a budget when we go to the store, only buy things that are on our lists, shut the lights off when you are not in that room...I have even started buying calling cards again cuz its so expensive to call my parents who live in another country....tomorrow I am calling the mortgage company to see about refinanving or Obama's loan modification plan to redice the payments....something has gotta give here eventually....it just keeps getting worse and worse and worse....

It is hard to handle the inflation since I am not a big-wig, sort of speak. But I have had to cut back on a few things that I had enjoyed, but replaced them with activities that I neglected. So I balanced that out fairly well. As soon as the economy took a plunge, I started couponing, rebating and doing the BOGO's. I now save approximately 40-47% off my grocery bill. In otherwords, I became a penny pincher, but I am not going to let it stop me from enjoying life. Maybe the way things are right now is to hit us upside the head to learn to be more conservative. Just my opinion. Have a good day.

Everything seems to be going up, everywhere. I do eat out less, look for more bargains, and I have now gone to work full time. I also earn what I can online for extras. I am thankful to have a job, and it does pay fairly well, in my opinion. I have a lot of responsibility, but the job is not going to go away.

My children were out for lunch as they are employed so it's me and my eldest child who's married left at home. We thought before we're not affected with the inflation but recently because we're just two at home, we're no longer preparing the regular meals. So we could save, we preferred sometimes to eat food for snacks during lunch time. We're really cutting down expenses, to handle inflation.

well i will not tell you any story happenings or story over here , just want to tell you as a whole ,, so in INFLATION the value of money falls in comparision to the items thus it gives us very little room for any shopping or purchasing an item , this creates a big pressure or tension in our mind and thus over health gets effected in inflation,,

Maybe we will not avoid inflation affect. From 2008, the world economic is down. It is better by all the world nation's trying, but it can not resolve the problems. It is certain that all things will increase their price.

Well there's nothing much I really can do, as I am a mere student, without a job to support myself. However I have noticed that inflation has taken a toll on gas prices and therefore bus fares, and electricity prices as well (since it is derived from the combustion of oil). Even some of the products which I buy for resale to my friends have gone up in price, and personally that was the impact of inflation which hurt me most deeply, as now such products cannot be afforded by my friends. Good topic and happy myLotting!

Thank you for the comment,I understand as a student there is not much responsibility unless you're taking a college loan or sponsoring your family(brother or sister)education.During my times, most of the college student do some part time at fast food chain and cycle or take motorbike to school.I guess most of us has learn the it's not easy to earn an income.

Inflation increases the amount of layoffs and unemployment.I got selected in a company but my posting is being delayed for a long time.I also tried other jobs and all are refusing to immediate join. That is another effect of this problem in my life.

Inflation effects only on people who are already suffering from poverty.Recently petrol fares ,rice fares and also cereals fares have been increased . It effects on normal person a lot .Normal people struggles to buy a small things.when the things fares keep on increasing like this .Normal people finds further difficulty to buy even a small thing. Inflation never effects on rich people.
