Yesterday, while I was travelling back from Delhi, a Briagdier in the Indian army was also travelling with me. While talking with him, he just made a comment, that as far as Bangla Desh was concerned, they push all their problems, meaning the poor and rustic Muslims into India, and almost all the border towns of West Bengal, has become a Muslim majority villages, and India is going to face the next big problem from this place. His comments were chilling "West Bengal is going to be the next J&K." Dont you agree it is alarming ?

I dont classify people on the basis of religion or customs rather I judge them as a human being. The case of Jammu Kashmir is different but Bengal cannot be in such state as Bangladesh can never demand bengal as their land.
About kashmir, The british should have solved the problem before leaving but they did not.
Why not to take people as humans and let them live on land, there shouldn't be your land or my land.
Bangladesh was one a part of India and the people were and are our people who were once Indians so why to be alarming from our people.

Today I read in the English news papers that China is trying to de stabalize India by formenting trouble in N.E. India and in West Bengal borders, my fears have come true.
Read today's (15.8.09), The Hindu or the Times of India for more details on this.

Coolcat123, I do not know from which part of India you are from. Just visit the border areas of West Bengal, you will find the difference. The borders have completly changed and most of the people in the border areas are from BanglaDesh. Kindly remember they were the same people who wanted freedom from Pakistan. What is there to prevent them from asking for independence of WestBengal say after 50 years.
Remember the first Hindu Muslim riots started in Undivided Bengal.

Hi Ramesh,
Its an open secret that the demography of most border districts of Bangladesh has changed due to continuous influx of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. It was all over the newspapers too, very recently. What I learnt is that it’s a two pronged approach. First, as we all know that just because Muslims were allowed to stay back in India post-partition, majority of them have relatives spread out over India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. So, some people come over on the pretext of visiting relatives or accompany friends of relative, stay back and either mingle with the mainland and join the terrorist network or majority of them just get a voter card and ration card and become an Indian citizen and stay back and add to our burden without contributing anything. Since the language and looks are similar to Indian Bengali Muslims, they don’t raise eyebrows. They only thing they do is fill the district madarsas and increase their own population.
Secondly, there is cross border trade and livelihood. Cattle transfer is of course one of the most popular and lucrative trade practices across the border. Then there are the daily wage jobs…it was reported that daily many Bangladeshi labourers cross over the porous border, do govt jobs like gram sadak yojana and such, and take the money and walk back in the evening, to come back the next morning. The catch here are the middle-men and govt agencies who give out the money…according to Indian govt rules, if Rs. 100/- is to be paid daily to the workers, the Bangladeshi workers accept say Rs. 75/- (which is good enough for them) and the rest Rs. 25/- is swallowed by the agents on this side of the border. so you can well imagine that the Bangladeshi workers are more preferred than the Indian local workers.
All this happens with the open knowledge and support of the state govt and centre, too! The WB govt has done all the wrong things imaginable and possible to woo Muslims and increase their population and its own vote bank, but if the Sachar Committee report is to be believed, Bengal Muslims are one of the worst off in the country.
However, I don’t think WB will become the next J&K as yet…you see, Bengal is a very important link in the terror chain and I think the terrorists would like to keep WB safe to keep their communication route to Bangladesh open and accessible, like it is now. Rather, the border districts of WB might very soon resemble any Muslim majority city and town on India and Hindus might soon become a minority.

Thanks for the response sudipta, it is really a sorry and sad state of affairs as far as W.Bengal in concerned. I have my own doubts, that even if TMC and Congress come to power in your state, they will not do any thing to stop this immigration. India has celebrated the silver, golden and platinum jubilee of its independence, do you think we will celeberate the 100th year of Independence as a full state?

You are very correct in your fears Ramesh…just a few months back, in one of her dharnas, Mamta Banerjee was seen offering namaz, in a muslim dominated area of Bengal! Now, isn’t is absolutely incomprehensible as to why does one have to offer namaz or go to the temples to be seen as secular or to be seen as doing something for a particular community??!! Constructive action should speak louder than gimmicks but this is India!!!

Hi rameshkumaar, Unrest usually causes problems wherever it is found. Governments and people everywhere has to learn that they cannot push problems aside. We must treat everyone as equals because we are indeed all one and must work together if there is to be peace. Blessings.

Thanks for the response Pose123. The problem is India has already been divided because of religion. Pakistan was created in 1947 because the muslims in the subcontinent wanted a sepearate nation for Muslims. In 1971, Pakistan was divide because of Language and East Pakistan became Bangla Desh, today they are not able to run their country and they are sending their people into India. The day might come when the Muslims are a majority in WestBengal and they might ask West Bengal to come under Bangla Desh rule, just as the Muslim Kashmiris are asking for a Pakistan rule. That is why this is an alarming situation.

Absolutely correct!
Why just W. Bengal, even Mumbai is flooded with illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Add to that, our docile attitude, entertaining of fanatical and cunning politicians like Abu Azmi and the like who in turn favor those Bangladeshis just for the sake of the obvious! Even the Shiv-Sena which boasts of maverick pro-Hindutva agendas couldn't do much to get rid of them despite the fact that Mumbai was their political bastion for years together.
Not to mention, the vile MNS who is only interested in driving out our very own poor Up-ites and Biharis; I never saw them acting tough against the Bangladeshis! And shame on the Marathis who vote for the MNS! (Btw, I'm myself a Maharashtrian, son of the soil)
West Bengal is the land of renaissance and most of the original Hindu (Vedic) culture is reportedly found alive in its purer form in the state. Sigh! The left Government is apparently hellbent on converting that pious land into a graveyard! In fact it is said that the left Government issues illegal voting cards to the Bangladeshis for the lust of power! There have been many reports of the number of madrassas and mosques multiplying in the border areas. Though the official census indicates that the proportion of Muslims in the state is about 25%, obviously the number is much higher.
I'd really dislike losing a great state like W.Bengal to the Bangladeshis. We can't forget what happened to Kashmir, can we? But it looks inevitable. Sorry for sounding pessimistic!

Thank you for your response cannibal. Yes I forgot to mention Mumbai and the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. You are absolutely right that MNS is more interested in driving out our own Hindus, instead of taking action against the illegal Muslims. I am very happy that a son of the soil is not taken up by the false promises of MNS. It is high time, all we Hindus get together and drive all the illegal immigrants out of India. There is no use in believing the so called nationalists parties like Shiv Sena and BJP.

Dear bless_me, thank you for your response. Please see my response to Pose123, you will know the answer. You are from China, I do not know what is the news that reaches you after being censored. I believe that there has been some disturbances in your Xianjiang provience, also called East Turkestan. For your information, the muslims of Xianjiang also knows as the Uighur nationalists, have killed thousands of Han Chinese in these provience, do you know about it ? This is because your Chinese government has made a large scale of immigration of Han Chinese into this provience. So the Muslims have retaliated now, and your police have put down that rebellion with a iron hand. I do not want the same thing to happen in my country.
