Yeahhhhh! Finally a good sized crop of my veggies.
This shot shows some of the fresh homegrown veggies I picked today. These will be turned into soup and salad for dinner today and tomorrow. I labeled the photo as well as to what everything is. These sure look tasty. So what have you picked from your garden? What's for dinner/lunch today.

Yay Grandpa Bob you are always making something really yummy that comes from your garden. We have some tomatoes that are just getting ripe as well as some basil. I picked one green tomato that has not ripened. I may switch it to a sunnier location. This has not been a great year for the garden plus I havent done any weeding so it doesnt help.

Tomatoes need a lot of sunshine to ripen.

You did an absolutely amazing job. Everything looks terrific, and oh so fresh! I am going to go to the Farmer's Market Wednesday morning to see if I can find some fresh veggies. The ones at our local Walmart Supercenter just aren't as good as I'd like them to be. How much do you estimate you saved by growing your own food in your own garden?

Not shown in the p[hoto is Dill, cilantro, and zuchinni we also picked. I have no idea how much we saved actually. But I spent maybe $50 total for all my garden which includes the estimated water bill. So I would venture I am basically getting my veggies for almost free in a sense as I have eaten maybe $30 worth already of fresh veggies. The beans alone are $2 a pint and peas are going for about the same. So there's $10 at least saved I think. Now the strawberries, rasberries, and apples, those are all free of cost except water as they come back each year. I do buy a few strawberry plants each year though. So I sepnd maybe $10 a year and get around $100 worth of fruits each year.

Nice harvest you have there!
I don't have much in the garden this time around-- your basic herbs (parsley, chives, thyme), but apart from that, fall is "the season" around here, when the blackberries ripen, and then there will be lots of apples and pears, later.

I have a fairly large garden each year.
Ever since I was a child I loved gardening.
My apples are turning red and will be ready in about 2 months.

I don't live where I can have any kind of garden. However, I went to a friend's house last week and she loaded me up with all kinds of home grown veggies. I jsut finished off a bowl of soup made from some of them! I still have fresh potatoes and squash to make soup with. All the cucumbers and tomatoes are eaten already!

Good for you. Maybe we should be calling you Farmer Bob instead of Grandpa Bob. It is so much fun and tasty too when you can go out in your yard and pick some yummies. Fresh homegrown is the best. Yes we have picked a few things. Happy Farming.

Your veggies look so good. I went to walmart today and bought some iceburg lettuce and green onions. I have the tomatoes and green peppers from my own garden. I made myself a large salad today for lunch.

I've been enjoying blackberries, raspberries, and yellow wax beans from my garden this week. The strawberries, of course, are done for the season. I should be having a tomato or two in the next couple days, to go with the lettuce.

I had so many strawberries I got sick of them actuially. Now the rasberries are WAY too plentiful. I have even had the neighhbor lady bring her 3 girls she babysits over to pick a few pints fpor themselves. Now all that isn't ready is my corn, brocholi, grapes, apples, and maybe a couple other crops I can't recall right now. LOL.

Well the lack of rain isn't an issue for my garden and flowers. Gor the lawn it is. I water daily the flowers and veggies as those are my babies and I treat them with a lot of TLC.

Thaty is wonderful. I wish we had room enough where we live to grow a bigger garden with more variety of things to eat and choose from. We have only ate tomatoes, green onions and leaf lettuce from ours. That is all we have.

Hi Webeishere, I am so jealous! You veggies look great!I did not plant a veggie garden this year because my hubby and I are in the process of buying a house. Hoping that the closing will be in the next week or so. I do have a couple of pot going, one tomato, one green bean. Last year we had ow own mini farm going with lettuce, green and purple cabbage, carrots, broccoli,cauliflower,2 green and yellow squash, cukes, green and yellow beans, 3 types tomatoes, yukon gold potatoes, red potatoes, corn, lopes, watermelon and pumpkin. I think that was all.
We will be putting in a huge garden at the new place as well. Bot, do I miss going out to the garden and picking out the veggies for that nights dinner.
Thanks for sharing your picture and your garden. Happy growing and happy eating!

Looking good there Grandpa Bob! I don't have a garden this year and it is showing. Unless you count green olives as a veggie I have not had any today and I have had no fruit except processed fruit. Email me some of those veggies, so I can eat healthier. LOL

That looks delicious! I remember picking carrots in Grandma's garden, wiping off the dirt on my jeans and eating it as I picked some more. I wish my carrots had come up! You do have a green thumb, I guess that comes as you get experience.
