Tonight I tried a new recipe I found on the internet for dinner. It was a recipe for Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was very easy to make. I had bought some boneless skinless chicken breasts on sale for $1.69 a pound and the butcher cut them up for me very thin. I put a slice of Provolone cheese and a slice of ham against the chicken breast then rolled it up, dipped in melted butter and then rolled them in Progresso Italian bread crumbs. I baked it and made some garlic cheddar mashed potatoes and some delicious salad. Everyone in the house was super happy with dinner today. I am happy because I found another tried and true recipe for the family. My teenage son exclaimed that he loved it! So I felt really proud. I love cooking and take pride when I make a meal that everyone enjoys. And it was a pretty economical meal too. And I got my husband to eat chicken again today. (He is a meat and potatoes type of person and to him there is no meat except for beef!) Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Thankyou ...thankyou...thankyou for this discussion. My daughter and I have been racking our little brains out for something different to cook for dinner as we are just tired of the same ole stuff. I have not made this in years & years. She likes the frozen stuff but it is so expensive. I may just add this to our menu this week.

Yes, and I think it tastes better than frozen stuff and I think it is cheaper to make it than to buy it frozen. I think that basically with the frozen stuff you are paying for the convenience of having it premade for you. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!

Schulzie, your dinner sounds wonderful and a lot simpler than I ever imagined it to be. I love chicken cordon bleu. I will have to try that sometime. I have a lot of breadcrumbs on hand, and the chicken, and the ham, just not any good cheese. I love garlic cheddar mashed potatoes as well. Good job on a family pleasing meal tonight.

I tried one of these recently and actually didn't really care for it. I thought it would be great since I like chicken, cheese and ham but it just didn't work for me. I guess it's an individual taste thing. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Although I didn't care for this, I have found some chicken and rice ones that I like and one with spagetti sauce and cheese over chicken...very good. I think it's kind of an experimental thing. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

You just never know with a recipe if you will like it or not. I really liked it quite well and I thought I wouldn't! I think it depends on many things too such as the cheese used or the ham used, etc. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!

I love chicken cordon bleu! But I never could make it correctly. I'll try your method--I used to pound the chicken till it was flat but I'll try thinly slicing it. My ex was the same way--beef, beef, beef!! He has diabetes now, and it's his own fault. I hope he can control it and maybe get rid of it. He loved my beef burgundy and I admit I excelled at that recipe.

Oooh, if you have that beef burgundy recipe please send it to me via the message system. It sounds really good. I have never tried making that but would like to learn. I have the butcher slice it nice and thin for me that way I don't have to do it. I am always afraid that I will cut myself or that I won't cut it thin enough or evenly. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!

Wow, that must have been one tasty home made meal This post just reminded me of some of the food that I had on the fiesta. This week is a fiesta here in our locality you see and yesterday was when all the food come out. I was "house-hopping" and I do remember that out of the 3 places that I went to, 2 of them had Chicken Cordon Bleu on the table. Yum!^_^ It's my favorite as well and I love to eat it with baked potatoes and a side dish of chopped up string beans, carrots and corn.

I know in Spanish "fiesta" means party. So what is having a fiesta in Australia? Is this some sort of traditional feasting week or something? I love baked potatoes too! I wish I could go house hop like you did. Sounds super yummy!!! Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!! Oh, and by the way - I just made this Chicken Cordon Bleu again 2 nights ago and my oldest son was sooooo happy!!

Uhm... Australia? Im not really familiar with their national parties.LOL Here in this country, aside from the national holidays, there are many regional festivals. In this locality, it happens every 2nd week-3rd week of September. Its a week-long religious celebration commemorating the local devotion to Mother Mary for watching over us. This year marked its 300th years of devotion.^_^

That sounds really yummy..I am going to try that. what type of ham did you use? The recipe sounds easy enough to make so it would also be a good recipe to teach my little sister to make. There is just many types and brands of ham and I would like to get the best one for the recipe. I love to cook and try new things. Also how long did you cook it for and did you have to use tooth picks to secure it closed? I have to get to a store to get the stuff though.

No, I did not use tooth picks to keep it closed. I got a 13 X 9 pan and just rolled them up in the pan, nice and tightly packed in there. I used Boar's Head Blackforest Ham and some unsmoked Provolone cheese slices that were sliced on number 1 in the deli. I baked at 350 for 40 minutes. Yummy and simple to make. While the chicken baked I made a salad and the potatoes and warmed up the bread. I am certain your family will love this menu! Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!

I'll have to try that sometime. I've never made it before. It sounds pretty easy to make. My husband is a meat person too. I could live without it but he thinks he needs it at every meal. He will eat chicken though.

There were no leftovers! I've never had Pizza Mia's before. Are they any good? I know they are a good price but do they compare with the regular Pizza Hut pizzas? Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!
