The 2 most important thing for me is LOVE and RESPECT. Respect is very important because If you do respect someone you will be honest with that person and you will never have plans to cheat or be unfaithful. And in the first place if there is Respect, all good qualities follow because that virtue is very important. Love of course is the main reason for all though it isn't the only thing a relationship needs. Love plus Trust equals a happy ending relationship.

I would say trust and honesty go hand in hand. So the second thing would be commitment to keep things working and fix any problems that arise. Without this relationships cannot work and will probably end very soon. Then there are other small factors to but commitment is probably up there with trust and sometimes it surpasses it.
