Sad news!! I just heard on CKCO TV news that Frank McCourt died very recently. My mother is reading his second book 'Tis now, and I'm reaidng Teacher Man, the third one, which I'll give to her after I'm done. We both just finished reading Angela's Ashes. It's very sad, since Frank McCourt is one of those people whom I would have loved to have met.

Yes, I heard the other day his brother saying he was in bad shape and probably wouldn't live much longer.
I never read his books but my sister was a big fan of his. I'm familiar with his work by seeing the movie version of Angela's Ashes (I know, not the same as reading the book, but...)
I just heard a recording of McCourt on the radio here in NYC; he was a guest on a local talk show on the second anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and had some very interesting and poignant things to say about dealing with the aftermath of violence and other topics.

Well, maybe we are starting a new era since so many
famous people are dying. Frank McCourt was an extraordinary
author.
