Hi,I know that game. And as a filipino, sungka is not just a hobby to us it's more like a part of our tradition here in the Philippines that we know how to play sungka. It teaches us also some mathematical knowledge of counting in an ancient form.As for the history of the game sungka,as far as I know it was originated and was introduced to us by chinese.

I love to play this, and till this day we had this at home.In this modern age, where kids and almost new genre had forgotten the old folks games like sungka i bought one set for my kids to play. And they love it,i just wish we can still pass some old games to this new genre. It is really upsetting that little by little the old ways, traditions and cultures in our country are dying. Not only dying in the sense of practise but also in the minds of young generation.

Yes my friend that's the sad moment of some of our traditions and cultures. Our traditional games are almost gone due to our computer age. Thanks for responding

I guess it came from the people in Baguio because I frequently see this kind of toy in Baguio City. I think it is an original Filipino toy. I hope my observation helps. Happy mylotting!

I used to play that before. I love it because even if you are the only one or you are alone, you can still play it. It is just like chess, even if you are alone you can play it by yourself. My sungka before are made of wood but the pieces are made of marbles, I bought marbles in the school just to have it used for my sungka.

We call this "congkak". I remember playing this when I was a kid. My grandparents has one but we were never allowed to play it because they think we might break it so me and my sister dug up hole on the ground and play it. :-)

When we were young, we used to play sungka. We had two wooden sungka that were given to us by our father before and we enjoyed playing them. As to where it has originated, I have read one time that it was the Chinese who first did the game. Good day!
