...from theirs kids? I can say, that when my kids was little, i had a lot of clothes, all family like to buy clothes for kids, and sometimes they don t wear all this clothes because they grow to fast.
So, i had so many new clothes for kids all time. And i give this clothes to one of my friend, who never buy clothes, because shes kids grow with clothes from my kids.
When was calamities, as flood, or something else i donate clothes for kids all the time, i donate with all my heart, because was family who lose house and all what they have and is nice to receive some help when you need, in special for kids.
Do you like to give and receive clothes for your kids, now or old, just if you know who dive you this clothes?Or is not important?

I've always accepted hand-me-downs for my kids because they grow so fast & having 4 children of all different ages (19,15,7,3) it helps defer the cost of buying clothes. As long as the kids like them & they fit. If the clothes don't fit or the kids don't like/won't wear then we donate to places who need them like V of A, women's shelters, etc. I've found that the used clothes for my older daughter are more to her liking as they are already worn in & comfortable. Handing clothes down & donating to someone who needs the clothes is a great idea!

Hi there!
Well, charity begins with the family! I don't have my own kids yet but in my family circle we have handed down old clothes to the younger ones and to those who can still wear them. My younger brothers, when they were still young have received some old clothes from relatives and its ok. It doesn't matter either whether it's new or not as long as it is still useful. Besides, it's nice to be able to save money from buying new clothes when there are still some that we can use.
Ciao!

I remember when we were small then my mom would sew clothes for us because she was so good in doing that, and she was even inventing new styles and make us wear so we were never in short of new clothes, now she says she has forgotten the styles to sew for us so just too bad but hopefully I have kept some designs of her and I do manage to sew something from time to time.

I like hands me down for my newborn as I find they outgrow their clothes real fast! But somehow, I only take hands me down from people familiar and close to me. I dont take from people I am not close too and even worst, I dont take from strangers. But I do donate all the used clothes to charity. I find the charity houses needs them badly.

I absolutely love to get hand me downs for my kids, and when I am done, I pass them on to the next person. When my oldest son was born, we got so many things from family members who were done with them. Most of them were in fairly new due to the fact that between my husband's family and mine, SOMEONE is always expecting. Some of them were brand new and had never been worn (kids grow out of clothes so fast, some just never get used first time around).
I do not, however, solely rely on hand me downs, we kind of keep it 50/50, now that my son is older he likes to go shopping for new things that are just his - school clothes, etc.

My family has given me sooooo much clothes for my daughter. When she was born, we got clothes that she is using only now. And it still keeps coming. Sometimes, in the family, we get to get hand me down clothes from the older kids. Its very much acceptable here. As long as it still looks good.

I think it is a great idea to take hand me downs. when Kids are toddlers and babies, I mean they hardly wear their clothes before they grow out of them. When they get older it is more difficult becaue clothes end up gettign stained or ripped from the little kiddo stage. Clothing is expensive and if people are offering them free then why not!?

icesmile, I don't mind hand me down clothes but I do mind that people thought they can just dump clothes that they don't want to me. I mean clothes that already torn, stained, and it's in such unbearable stage to be worn again. When I got hand me down from friends or family members, I normally check the clothes out, and really making feel that they just thought it's a rubbish dump! I don't do this, if I am giving away my clothes to people I know, I make sure those are wearable clothes and not simple just clothes my child can't wear any more. If it's for recycle, then all used clothes will be there as I know they will do the patching work before giving out again to the poor. Happy MyLotting

as long as the cloths are in good condition, i'll take hand me downs. all the clothes my girls grow out of, i go through them and as long as they are in good condition, i give them away to someone or to goodwill. they are perfectly good cloths and i know someone can use them. i know when my girls were born that everyone in our family bought lots of cute clothes for them but they grow so quickly when they are little that i had clothes hanging in the closet with the tags still on them. i've also gotten hand me downs that have the tags on them. never be ashamed or too pround to take them.

When I was little, my mom would always give me hand-me-downs from my aunt who isn't much older than I am. I also got clothes from her co-workers/friends, sometimes even my friends. I didn't care, I never cared much for fashion. I wore what I wanted. Still do, really. haha. :]

Well I do not have kids, but I don't see anything wrong in dressing children with old clothes donated from someone. kids grow so quickly and therefore it makes sense to pass clothes on. I can understand that getting new clothes for the kids would be a pleasure but at the same time there is nothing wrong with wearing something old that belonged to somebody else!

I think I would accept if the givers are my close friends or relatives. I would wash them first though. Because babies get big and grow quick and their clothes are not cheap so I think it is a good idea to accept free clothes.

yes i like to take clothes for my kids if my friend offers them to me as friends gave anything with no bad thought and when we accept that gift it feels comfortable and graet part to friend who offer them. but one who give very dirty clothes only to see our bad condition then we don't accept it.

I do tend to get given clothes for my children from a friend and if they do not fit my children i tend to pass them on the same as when my children grow out of clothes i give them to other friends or i do give them to a charity. If the clothes are torn or marked i take them to a clothes bank where they are made to be recycled.

At this moment I wish I had someone that would give me their kids used clothes since I am harly able to buy any for my kids. I have resived clothes from people that I know for my baby and it those help alot but when kids get to the age of one or two most of the clothes they use are not good any more because they get damaged with all the runing, falling and especialy they get more stains thatn normal. I have gave away some of my baby clothes and toys to other people that I know because I know that it is a big help especially in this moments. I also don't think that it matter were it comes from or were it might go aslog as it helps other in need.

When my kids were ittle we had no money and other people were always offering me clothes for them. At that time I felt like the poor relation and wished I could afford new things...But nowadays there are so many charity shops here in the UK that I always look in them for clothes for my grandchildren - children grow out of things so fast it's not worth buying them new - take advantage of the people who do buy them new and have to give them away when they're hardly worn!
