Hi Chaitra!
As far as I know a mushroom is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruit givign body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source. The standard for the name "mushroom" is the cultivated white button mushroom, Agaricus bisporus, hence the word mushroom is most often applied to those fungi that have a stem, a cap, and gills on the underside of the cap, just as do store-bought white mushrooms. I like mushroom very much. However, these are not available all the time.

Hi Chaitra,
I heard that mushroom is a fungus. It is neither a vegetable nor a non-vegetarian. In other words it is not from a plant and not an animal product. Mushrooms are full of nutrients, particularly B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, selenium, copper and zinc. Mushroom is using for making medicine too.

Mushroom is very much veg according to me. Yeah they originate from the decomposed materials but I feel that does not make it non veg. Mushroom is my favourite. I can have it anytime everytime.

You know I eat mushrooms all the time and I never really thought about this question. I mean i always thought they were classifed as fungi but I never really think about that when Im eating them as I do when Im eating corn or green beans, I always think hey im eating a veggie.

for what i know mushrooms are fungi. funny thing is they are treated like vegetables because of their vitamins and i'm not really sure if they have minerals. can't blame people because mushrooms taste soooo good but i'd do a research and see attached picture.

hi there :) Mushrooms aren't plants--they're actually an entirely different Kingdom--there's Kingdom Plants, Animals, Protists and Fungi--and mushrooms fall under Kingdom Fungi--this depends on their structure-- I hope I was able to help out

Mushrooms are fungi and not vegetables. They were spores from the body of a fungi produced from above ground. Although vegans eat them as well because they're not from animals.
