What do you think heaven will be like?

This is for those who believe in the traditional heaven but I would be happy to get comments from anyone. This is not to start an argument but to get people's thoughts on the subject. What do you think that people will do there? Will there be work for people to do? Will they continue to learn or just know everything. Finally is your belief straight from the Bible,Koran or other holy book or have you formed some thoughts of your own?

I would like to know why so many believe they are going to heaven when the bible does not say this.

Have you ever thought about going to a preacher to ask these questions? They are the ones who tell us how good a place it is. If I told you about my thoughts on heaven I don't think you would believe it. You would call me a liar. Why? because I have never been there.

Hi efc, Thank you for commenting and I don't think a preacher would know better than anyone else, he/she hasn't been there either. That is one of the biggest problems I have with churches, people feel that the preacher has all the answers. We should all learn to think for ourselves. Blessings.

Hello Pose,
I want to make something clear before going further in my response, it is a matter of Fact - according to the Islamic point of view - that no one is able to provide you with a complete description to the heaven, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH clearly stated in his description of Paradise that in it there is :-
* what an eye has not seen
* what an ear has not heard
* and what has not crossed the heart of a human
prepared for the pious servants of the God and the righteous as a reward.
Eternal youth will be the state of existence for those who inhabit Paradise. The food of Paradise is so pure that their bodies will not produce any wastes, only sweat whose fragrance is musk, and No one will have to work for his food and cloth because the time of good works is during this life, and the heaven is a reward.
also the prophet Muhammad PBUH mentioned that The Paradise is surrounded by hardships ( in this Life ) and the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations.
in the Holy Quran there is some description of the Paradise, it contains rivers and fruits, but all of these things mentioned in the Holy Quran and prophetic Hadiths are merely but examples of what Allah has promised His righteous believers, Simply because God can create more and more that is beyond the human imagination.
Best Regards

I believe heaven is the place for true happiness and unending peace. I think it's the reward for the people who passed God's judgement. Eveything is beautiful, around, no more sighs, doubts, problems, worries or disappointments, should there will be tears, these are tears of joy, no more failures but there, all you're be reaping are fruits of success. The riches we don't find here are all can be found in heaven. Beautiful, flowers around, beautiful songs of angels, no darkness. I think it's beyond compare. Hehe Pose, am not in a hurry though, as I am still making it to heaven...

Say: Shall i give you Glad tidings
far better than those?
For the righteous are Gardens
In nearness to their Lord,
With rivers flowing beneath
Therein is their eternal home
With Companions pure
And the Good pleasure of God,
For in God's sight
Are His servants 3:15
Verily the Companions
of the Garden shall that Day have joy
In all that they do 36:55

Well Pose123, the only heaven, which I have seen is the one, which I have seen in the movies. I hope it will be like what it was as shown in Movies, with beautiful woman and men, enjoying life without any work or care in the world.
As for my belief, being a Hindu, I believe in reincarnation and karma, and whatever good or bad you have done in this life, is going to affect you in your next life, and only when you have finished all this karma, you will be allowed into the heaven.
As far as Hindus are concerned there is no need for us to read any of our holy books like Ramayana or Mahabharatha and it is not cumpulsory. If you like it, you can read it, and if you do not like it and throw it away, nobody bothers. That is Hinduism.

I like to think it is going to be a place of peace and beauty with each of us having our own little spot to be happy in. Where you have those you love around you and there's no bad anywhere.

I think each individual has his own idea of what heaven would be like, with golden gates and angels flying around. Most get it from reading the bible, at least that is where I got mine. No one really knows what it would be like, it is just an image that we put in our minds. I think most cultures each has their own understanding of what it would be like, and guess we will never know till it is our turn to go there and yes I am hoping that although I haven't been the best person in the world that I will go to heaven if such a place does exist.

I often dream of heaven-like places. They are very vivid dreams and sometimes they feel more real than reality itself. They are very hard to describe but I will try. They come in a richness of colors, much richer than the normal spectre, they have a sense of familiarity about them, as if I've come to a place where I'd always wanted to be, they also bring a feeling of freedom, peace and great relief. It's somehow similar to the experiences described by people taking hallucinogens. Surrealistic, very vivid and beyond any words.

Always from the movies, the heaven is above the sky. Those gone up to the heaven, will walk on the sky.
All are just imagine. We do not really know how the heaven looks like. Same goes to hell. Nobody knows how is it looks like

Hi there Pose!ÜHeaven is a really magical place. I think the people there would just chat, eat and spend time with anyone. I also think that there will be no money in heaven. Sometimes i have this idea that it will be like the scene on Garden of Eden with us as Adam and Eves. AND NO APPLES. My idea of heaven will look like this. Have a nice day!

I believe that heaven does exist. My mom said that heaven is a place of happiness, no sorrows and pain. It is full of treasure and all you will see is gold. I'm a Christian and I strongly believe in heavens' existence. They say what people in heaven will do is sing praises to God and glorify Him.

I'd like to believe that heaven exists. All good things exist in heaven, and that if ever we die our spirits will go there. But regarding its physical structure or what I really have no idea...
