Hi my Fellow movie goers and my lotters!! What do you think about the newly released "Harry potter And the Half Blood Prince"? I guess the movie was really very disappointing and the director was especially unworthy of making such a movie!!! He just changed the storyline as he wished!!!a lot of times! which makes it a total disaster! I really expected a lot out of the movie and just like the previous movie "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" this went nowhere near my expectations! It was just superfast and the movie was not even 3 hrs! It looked as if the Director was fed up of making some many parts of the series and wanted to just end his misery by directing some movie!!! And Dumbledore , the Most powerful character in this series was an utter Joker!!! I feel No justice has been done to the book! i wish the director of "The Lord of the Rings" had done this movie. I am a Die hard fan of the Harry potter Series and am plainly disappointed by the movies, especially after the 5th Part! So , what do you think guyz??? Do share with me your views on this movie.

yeah the movie is little bit dull and also ain't according to book but yet I feel its a great movie because when I was watching it I simply forgot about the book. The character portrayal really captures my imagination.I think its better than other parts as it now not only deal with magic only but also with human emotions.

Yeah mate I can understand what it's like to watch a movie completely different from the book but I totally used to this after 2001 when I watched the first installment of harry potter series.Anyways I just want to say that never expect a movie totally according to its adaption .

The movie could definitely have been made a lot better!!! There were very less graphics and absolutely no action! It seemed like a comedy drama watching the movie, except for the Climax!!! This was a really very exciting book but now the movie will make the watchers feel otherwise i guess!!!

I'm not a Harry Potter fan and I'm sure I will never be. Obviously, I never read a single word from any Harry Potter book, and the only HP movie I saw was the first one. I just find this whole witchcraft thing and a 4-eyed boy a bit annoying. Anyway, thanks for contributing a review.

I actually thought that the portrayal of Dumbledore was actually very close to the book, as he was suffering during the book as well. The trouble with the later books in the Harry Potter series is that there is so much in them it is impossible to condense them into a two hour film, which is why the last film is being done in two parts.

Yes but the Lord of the Rings movies were condensed as well, and look at the end no metnio at all of what was happening in Hobbiton and the Shire.

Hmmm at the time LOTR was out, many people mesmerized by the movie cause they haven't read the books. But actually one of my friend did, and he said the movie is a dissapointment for him cause many stories cut or added into the movie. I think it is really hard to adopt a book to a movie, many cuts and some additional scene has to be added. I think all the fans has to understand this. As for me who read all the books several times, I try to be objective when watching the movie. The first and second installment were too slow, third and fourth one were brilliant, fifth one was crap, and sixth one was brilliant

Totally agree that the book is too big,but i guess the movie should be atleast 3 hours rather than trying to fit it in 2 hours! I mean, What's the hurry?? Is the Director suferring from loose motions or something because of which he wants to cramp the movie in juz 2 hours??? Mind you, This part is a really important part in the Harry Potter Series and it deserved it's time!!! If he was not able to get the movie done in 1 part he should have made this one also into 2 parts!! This guy was totally so not interested in this project and it clearly shows!! What a waste of such a great book! The Director is a useless fellow and I have no more expectations from even the 7th Part in which maybe according to the director's figment of imagination Hermione will break up with Ron and marry Harry and maybe Ginny will marry her own brother Ron!!! Take the example of "The Lord of the Rings" it was very beautifully made!

I loved the books even though I think the books began to become too long towards the last ones and they were harder to get through but I did enjoy them but I haven't ever enjoyed any of the movies. The first movie released was an extremely disappointed to me since they changed all in the movie and then when I tried watching the second movie I kept falling asleep and have never gotten through the entire thing so therefore I just gave up on the series. Hearing how its a disappointment though - not only from you but most of my friends - I'm not surprised at all. Its just a shame that they thought they could live up to the books in my opinion. When you start chopping things up they should have realized it was going to happen and I don't think it helps how long it takes them to film the movies and how quickly the actors are growing up and now trying out new things so its not all Harry Potter for them.

It definitely works out better that way, If and only if you are atleast able to understand what exactly is going on in the movie!! and Honestly with the Harry Potter series, I don't think that's a good idea!

i personally sort of liked it but that's only because i found the social aspects really cute like with hermione/ron, harry/ginny (ok not so much but still) and it was funny overall. however, i am really disappointed about how much it strayed from the book. especially the very end with the battle. it felt like they were trying to compress everything into a watchable lengthed movie. nevertheless, with books like harry potter, it just doesn't work. this book is one of the most vital book in the series and i just couldn't believe they cut so much out. also i was really annoyed with the half blood prince. this is because the movie didn't focus on that part at all and we just sort of found out in the end. nothing in depth. my die-hard harry potter fan was furious!

Oh yeah, Definitely agree with you pal!!! They just cut so much and tried to compress everything and make some money with the cheap crap which they have already succeded in!! Yeah Hermione was really cute in the movie and she is just growing up to be quite a bombshell!! Cheers and happy mylotting!

I really enjoyed the books but have found that the movies didn't really come up to my expectations. None of them. But I guess it's probably kind of complicated to make a movie out of some books. I know that the movies are always a bit different from the books we read, but some are more accomplished than others and the harry potter series seems to be one of the cases where it's not the best. I haven't seen the half blood prince yet. I will see it at some point, but I won't be expecting much, really.

If you have not watch the movie, I do suggest you watch it for yourself as you might get a different opinion for yourself. Different people have different expectations. Personally, I am disappointed but there are instances I do enjoy the movie. Overall, I have to say I love it because I paid for it and I had to justify my expense. LOL.

I may be watching this movie soon if I get the time to. I too have heard many things about this. Some of my friends say that it is a bit of a dissapointment compared to the book but the thing is, you can't really compare a movie to a book. Books always have more depth and everything makes more sence. I felt the other times when I watched the previous movies of Harry Potter that they too missed out on important scenes and even cut out important characters. I don't know how long it goes for but I would hate to sit there for 3 hours and watch a movie no matter how good it was. Just enjoy watching the movie really, and its harder to do that if you think about the flaws of it.

one of the Dumbledore scenes - talking to Harry about the thoughts of the professor about the Horcrux.
I quite agree with you but I have not 'cared' much for the movies and the storyline enough after the 3rd movie that I dont get disappointed anymore. I mean after the Prisoner of Azkaban I kinda didnt have anymore expectations for the movies. I just wanted to watch them and see how they were portrayed and if how the movie adaptation compared to my imagination while I was reading the book. Good thing I have read the book so I kinda know what to expect in terms of the story line because if you just watched the movies. Some parts of it would be confusing and there are those points that might not be clearly shown in the movies. The book is definitely more detailed. I think most books are. There are only few movie adaptations that surpass the excellence of their book counterparts. Im gonna have to agree with you on the LOTR comment. That movie adaptation was quite excellent. However, I have to admit that I have not read the book and have no interest in reading it. I tried though.LOL Its just one of those books that I dont get past one chapter. Im just not interested. In these kinds of books, Id really rather watch the movie adaptations. That might make me interested in the whole story. Anyway, going back to Harry Potter 6. I was actually impressed by the trailer. I think the Harry Potter movie series after the 3rd one have trailers that are actually better than their full length movies. So I guess Im watching the rest of the Harry Potter parts just for the sake of watching it and how they developed it rather than watching the movies because Im that interested in it.

It definitely is one of their marketing strategies, making the trailer that good so as to rake in possible movie goers since even if those who have watched the movie tell their friends that its no good, others would still want to watch it just to 'see for themselves'. You're welcome and happy myLotting to you too.^_^

On the ratings for this movie from the great site, IMDb, the people have given it a score of 7.9, which is higher then any of the previous Harry Potter movies. Over 30% of the viewers gave it 10/10. I'm sure that most of the people who saw it, were readers of the book, and loads of people enjoyed it.

Too right Chris.Thats what I was trying to explain since my first post. There has to be some difference in book and the movie...I have seen many movies based on Stephen King's books and there always been a difference in the plot and some twist and turns in the story...Last night I was watching the Mist and the ending was totally different from the book..Nevertheless the movie was brilliant.

You don't seem to be looking at the comments of the people who really liked the movie... some of their headlines are, "Powerful and Stunning! One of the best fantasy films ever made." or "Far and Away the best in the series" and, maybe the best title to a review to see where the difference between how you, and how others feel, "Maybe the best Potter movie when viewed independently from the novel". Theres a big problem with turning books into movies. If you've read the book then you have expectations, and it's virtually impossible for a movie to reach those expectations. There will be changes in the plot and the characters, different events might happen, the scenes may be disorganized, but you can't have a book and a movie as the same thing. It just doesn't work.

Hello Christo, Looks like you did not read the comments on the great site IMDB which surely tell you a lot more about this movie rather than the ratings which are just masking the drawbacks! Well some of the people don't like to agree that they've actually wasted their money! and moreover it's not like if they agree, that the movie is bad the're gonna immediately get another awesome movie scrapping the old useless one! It's something like people are just trying to be content with what the've got!!! You know the "Something is better than Nothing" sort of thing. I guess they do not want to spoil their summer!! I'm just trying to be frank with you and true to myself , which is really important than anything else i guess!! Like i already said I just don't understand what's wrong with the voters on IMDB!!! Honestly, this movie just does not deserve that rating!!! There have been loads better than this! Maybe the voting is rigged by the Director and the crew of the movie!!!!! Maybe they are the only ones voting again and again to make people watch the movie! well ,that's a possibility!!!!

Noooooo!!!!! Don't tell me it is bad!!! I have not seen it yet but are hoping too this week! I know that most of the movies have had to leave things out and condense certain parts of the story. That always happens in movies from books! So I will go to the movie not expecting to see everything in the book. I have not read the sixth book as yet, I am currently reading the fifth. I watched all of the previous movies before I read the books. I think that is a better order to do it in with the Harry Potter series! That way you get a pleasant surprise when you read something extra in the book, rather than being disappointed that they left something out of the movie! I saw all of the Lord Of The Rings movies as they came out, having read the books including The Hobbit several times! I remember feeling a little disappointed that some things had been changed but I did also realise that there was a rather large amount of detail to cover in the movies. I did think that they should have made The Hobbit movie first though, as it comes before The Lord Of The Rings.

the movie is ok with me.there are a lot of exciting parts.I was a bit disappointed with the kiss between ginny and harry.it was too brief.unlike cho and harry's kissing scene,it was longer than harry and ginny's.I was expecting it to be more sweeter, but it was like a quick peck on the cheek.so short.

Hey Coco, I guess your name is inspired by Coco Rocha, as seen on your avatar:) Anyway I agree with you, the scene is quite short, I also feel there is no chemistry among these two. I don't know, they seems like a boring couple to be honest :) Supposedly they at least have passion in kissing

I have to say it was disappointing. The reasons why I think it was dissappointing was that the movie wasn't based on a "old book" but a new way to make more money. I think the movie and story line was more rushed then putting thought into it. It is a shame that the last movie had to make harry potter less appearing after having so many good runs. It seems as if they sneaked this one in to just fool us to just make money and that is that. I shame on them! God bless

actually, i haven't seen the movie seen am not a fan of the series. however, i did gain some interest after seeing trailers of the film just days prior to the actual release date. my friends who are more HP fanatics went to watch the film a day or two after the first day of release. when i heard negative reviews about it, i lost interest. one of my friend would even go as far as saying as, "good for you, you saved some money." with that said, it must probably be quite bad, to say the least.

i did not see the movie myself. My wife and her sister went to the midnight showing last week, the day it came out. She came home and was pretty upset. She said overall the movie was good but a scene had been added where a town or village was lit on fire that was never in the book, and then some huge fight scene was left out of the end of the movie.

Well, Your Wife's Right pal. Some really important scenes were left out! The Director was given a Job to do and he used his own imagination to mend it to his liking which was absolutely not needed!!! Good that you did not go to the movie!! There is nothing worth watching in the movie pal!
