Well last night witch i thought i would never ever in my life could think to try was dancing ever since i was a kid i was always energetic and is sports-minded,. from time to time i see people dance and would just watch them and not join because i know i cant dance like those people who are really good.. and last week i got into a really deep thought i was mourning about MJ's death and thought about thing why i really idolized him it was because his dancing, get captivated when i see him dance on his music videos and would get jealous that i couldn't do what he can do and so i made up my mind that i would try it and joined a dance class even though it was out of my comfort zone and my movements were not that nimble to really dance good., and it was fun the people there was always guiding me...
Have you ever tried doing things out of your comfort zone/familiar environment? if you did what was it? if no, why? ;}

Hey congratulations, korki4! How great that you decided to go to that dance class! It's good for us, I think, to branch out and try new things. It's too easy to get "stuck" in our comfort zone. One time I can think of specifically for myself was when I started horseback riding lessons. I had always dreamed of riding horses but had never had the opportunity because it was far too expensive and, growing up, my parents could not afford such things. When I was in my mid-30s, a friend of my mom's mentioned one day that she was wanting to take riding lessons but didn't want to go alone. My mom suggested she call me. I thought about it and was nervous! But, I looked up stables online and did some research and finally called her back and said, "Let's go!" I can't describe how amazing it felt the very first time I got into the saddle. It didn't matter to me a bit that I was nervous... by that time I was just excited to learn

I really think that we're conditioned to believe that if we can't do something well, we shouldn't do it at all... and that's just soooo untrue. I think the fear of making a fool of ourselves also stops us from trying the things we really want to try. Sometimes, I think we should take a lesson from children - they just throw themselves into everything with glee and abandon. I'm glad you had a fun time! Keep it up!

For me I use to be a really hard worker when placed in a group atmosphere and even though I would know answers and know what to do I would hate speaking up and becoming the leader. I think once I got into high school I slowly built more self esteem and really just got tired of people making stupid decisions so I learned to step up and become and leader. So it was something new that I tried but instead of just saying I can't do it, it was just I didn't feel comfortable. But I think with most issues, it is all based around self esteem.

Yeh, self-esteem can really hurt you on doing the things you want because we'll always be afraid of what will we look like after we had done this and just made a fool out of yourself., we are afraid of not taking any chances because of this ..

Hi there korki!Ü
I have done a lot of things out of my comfort zone. Because i believe that if you really really want to achieve something, you have the will and the determination to go for it. As for your passion, i think you should go for it. I too, dreamed of becoming a hip hop dancer but i just can't. I am very slow in memorizing steps. When i was in high school, i joined my classmates to perform in a certain program. I really tried my best to memorize the steps and gave my best on the dance floor. I have to be honest that it was not perfect, i admit i made a few mistakes or wrong moves but deep inside, the fulfillment of achieving something is more powerful and what i have done is very rewarding. I gained new friends and experienced a lot from what i have done. So better reach your dream. Never be afraid to take risks!

My sister is like that, i dont see her going out with her friends but she like doing outdoor activities(she especially wants to go bungee jumping which where i draw the line., i'm still scared) even if she's alone but most of the time we accompany her because we're a little bit outdoorsy too ;]

Hey korki4, your topic is quite good and reminds me of the movie "Yes Man" (the leading actor is Jim Carrey) I watched serveral weeks ago. It's about how a man walks out of his comfort zone, tries many new things and makes his life more interesting. I love this movie as it changed my mind. I'm a routinist. But from now on I'm trying to change my life. Our life is colorful, why not try new things during our limited life time? People need fresh air! The world is changing every second and we should accept it optimistically.

For some people (include me) go out of a comfort zone might hard.
Not impossible,but hard to do.
Before starting new thing, my mind really scare me with any thing irrasional.
What if...,what if..., bla bla.
But i believe when we passed it, we will got the joy.
And i succed to beat my negative mind to do new thing mostly.
With an extra energy of course.
And you passed it.Congrats.
