For those of you who have seen the latest movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince do any of you who haven't read the last book know what Snape meant when he said he was the Half-Blood Prince?

it's a bit shameful that the storyline in the movie didn't include the story of snape being the half-blood prince since he was the one featured in the title. it was actually in book six not the last one that told his story. snape is the half-blood prince since, as what mylotters have responded, he is half-muggle and half-wizard. he was a "prince" since it is his last name.

Actually I did some research and found out that Prince was his mother's maiden name and Snape was the last name of his muggle father.

Snape is not an pure-blooded wizard, his Mother (Eileen Prince) was a Witch and his Father (Tobias Snape) a Muggel.
That is why he called himself "The Half-Blood Prince" when he went to school.
The Half-Blood, because he was an half-blood, and Prince, because his mothers maidenname was Prince.

That is right it is a person that has both wizard and muggle blood.
