OMG I can't stand telemarketers! I used to work as a telemarketer a long time ago and i hated that job totally. Usually I'm polite to telemarketers but today this one totally annoyed me as she had the most annoying voice ever (sounded like Donald Duck on Prozac) The worst thing is they always call when you are in the middle of something and no matter how you private block your number, one of them manages to get hold of your number. Well this telemarketer certainly had a piece of my mind as I blatantly told her to get a real job that does not require heartache on your end.. But I wasn't rude I just as I know what its like to be a telemarketer. Seriously I think telemarketing should be banned. Not only is it the worst job in the world anyone can ever do but its invasion of privacy and just down right annoying. What do you guys think? Have u experienced telemarketing calls or have u ever worked as one? Share your stories..

I live in Australia so after a lot of complaints from people we have a "don't call register" which has made a big difference, my argument for the whole thing is we pay our phone bills to have a service for our own use not for other people to sell their wares, so personally I think it should be illegal solely on that point....

I've lived in Australia too and that was a major pain in the a$$.. It got to the point where I had to disconnect my ground phone because there was just no way oif getting rid of them.

In my area we have a do not call list and I am registered with it.It has dramatically reduced those calls. But when we register anywhere and add our phone number, they do have the right to call.

We have that too in my area but they are companies too who have a randomisers which means they use a computer generated program to generate new numbers to call. This of course is unacceptable but legal as far as am aware and there has been proposed ban on randomisers. So far its still in the process.. I have registered my number too on the do not call list.

the only telemarketers i really have a problem with are the ones who call past hours.i had one ring at 9pm,which is past the time they're supposed to be calling, nevermind the fact they have an unlisted number they're calling. but i imagine they're just going down the numbers in sequence, probably why they have it. i find some of the bill collectors more annoying. i know they're just doing a job,but i had one who didn't even ask for the right person jump up my *ss about another relative's debt.

I don't like my privacy being invaded. But the absolute most annoying thing about telemarketers to me is that when you tell them no, they will come up with every argument to try and change your mind. I know they are trained to do that, but it is so rude and annoying that I end up just hanging up on them.

Actually, if your number is on the no-call list they can pay a huge fine for calling you. I would just tell them that you no longer wish to recieve calls from their company.

I know, telemarketers are so annoying that they should be banned. Every few days I would get auto message calls and I just hang up on them, I just find that they are a waste of time. If they really want to talk to me, then they should have a human to talk to me. I guess they are too cheap these days and rather leave auto messages than have a real human being to talk to you. I think telemarketing jobs will be gone forever in the near future because people find them annoying, they are not doing well in terms of sales, and many, many people prefer to buy online or in stores. Say bye bye to telemarketers.

Yes, You Are indeed right your Number Gets Stolen Somehow .. But You Cannot blame them entirely As They have a Slight Feeling that you May like the Product they are trying to Sell .. And They surely Don't know what You are doing at that Moment .. Though Some TeleCallers Do Have the Courtesy to Ask You if they can Continue .. Thank You ..

The worst ones are those auto-dial messages that call you at all hours, day or night... If you don't want to listen to what they have to say, just tell them that you're not interested... say goodbye... and hangup before they can utter a word... If you're not in a hurry, play along with them... pretend to be interested... ask questions... make them scratch their heads... when it comes to crunch time, they usually ask something silly like "do you think it's a good deal?" to which you can answer that you're not interested... say goodbye... and hangup... alternatively, check the caller ID before answering the phone... the majority of telemarketing calls here are either 0870/0845 etc or are withheld... could also hook up a line to a voice-modem and have your computer zap the calls... ^_^ TPS cuts down some calls... but the non-members continue to call...

I usually stop them in their tracks and just let them know I am not interested, once time I was telling this man I was not interested and he kept on talking so I told him again and I said I dont have to have a reason I am just not interested and then informed him that I was hanging up. I hung up and can you believe he called me back and said why did you hang up on me. So I said some not so nice things and hung up again

I totally agree, telemarketers always seem to call at the wrong time and it does get really fustrating. I honestly sometime feel like telling them to shut up. I really want to find out who started all this telemarketing. Anyways, i'll say it again, i TOTALLY agree with you.

I would tend to agree with you. Telemarketers are the most annoying group of people on the planet. The majority of them won't take no for an answer. I placed my name on the do not call list and it did not matter they called anway. My solution is an answering machine with which I can screen my calls. 95% of the time when the answering machine picks up the call no one leaves a message so most likely a telemarketer or someone similar. All my friends know I do this and when to and when not to call.

I used to work as Telemarketer. Admittedly, I was having a hard time calling prospects since they really sound like they totally hate them. Now that I do not work as one, I was being called often offering this and that. Truthfully, it has become so annoying that even if you tell them that you are attending to something important, they would still insist.

It is illegal for telemarketers to call cell phones. you can actually sue in your local small claims court. Go to www.ucan.org for everything you need to know to stop them and even turn the tables and profit from them. Min. $500 you could get from every telemarketer that calls you. And you can file a complaint with the FCC online and they will issue the telemarketers an $11,000 fine. The trick is be nice to them and act interested in whatever they are selling while getting all of their company info. Do some research online about the TCPA Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991

I totally agree with you about telemarketers, they should not be able to make unsolicited calls to anyone. I usually do not answer the phone unless i recognize the number, or the name that comes up on the caller Id. I would never be able to work as one because i know how i feel when they keep calling and i could not do that to anyone.

In the UK there is the Telephone Preference Service that you can ring, to get your name taken off the telemarketers' lists. My daughter used to run the telemarketing department of a company and it was very hard work for her, motivating the others to get their target calls, so I know what it's like from both sides... I suppose they must get some sales from telemarketing, or they would'nt do it...They rely on the fact that people won't put the phone down because they don't want to be rude...but if you're polite and say No Thank You, Goodbye, very firmly, then put the phone down, they must accept it..
