A friend of mine sent me a 3 minute chocolate cake recipe for the microwave.

Labeled the most dangerous chocolate cake because it is available to you 24 hours, 7 days a week in three minutes and now you can't resist so you will become huge! I wrote back asking if he made one yet. He has an old microwave that goes very slowly, so who knows. Does a three-minute chocolate cake sound good to you? Would you make it? Would you end up gaining weight?

Hi, edge! I think, if it were at all good, it could become an addiction. I'd gain back all the weight I've lost, and they'd bring friends with them.

I agree it would be too easy to have cake when ever we want it. Often I think about making a cake, but then I think of all the trouble you have to go through and I forget it. With all the things that we microwave now, pizza, etc, we already have enough to put us way over our weight. Unless you can make it with no sugar, and non fattening, I think best left alone. Where I am sure that it is something meant to be used once in awhile there are those that would make it every day, kind of like the bread machine when we first get it. So good why not make a loaf every day, and the calories. We already have fudge that takes just a few minutes to make with just 3 ingredients and cookies made from cake mix, so this would be just one more temptation for the ones that can't control their eating habits.

Your welcome. An equally persuasive paragraph below you goes in the opposite direction.

I recently saw this recipe. It looks so simple. I wouldn't want to make one of these cakes as it might start a whole problem in the weight department if it was good. I tend to repeat eating unhealthy foods if they taste good. Need to watch my sugar intake. Have you tried it yet?

No, I haven't tried it. My husband has 2 weeks off and I'm having him cook for me. I gave him the recipe, but he has to be in a rare mood for chocolate and then he just buys something at the dollar store, so I doubt he'll make it for me. See response #4, that person has made it and sings its praises. Plus believes it actually helps keep the weight off. I eat and eat stuff I like, too. But for people who can have just a little of something and be happy, I guess it's great.

I would probably make it. I do not think I would gain any more weight from that than from anything else. I eat too much, I enjoy my food.So it is not fair that you did not post the recipe.Didn't you know that chocolate is a health food?

I didn't want to be in violation of the recipe rules, but I figured the first person who responded would ask for the recipe anyway and you didn't disappoint me. Will do later when I have time to go back and look at my email. Besides, the next two responders wrote like they didn't want to know. Chocolate, like potatoes, healthy until you add all the stuff to it that isn't. Will return later today or tomorrow with the recipe to help everyone get fatter!

Back as promised: Forwarded as "3-minute Chocolate Cake" Then there were three pictures: coffee mug with batter, coffee mug with cake rising in microwave, and cake turned out onto a plate looking ready to devour. Then the Title says ( and recipe afterward): "5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake 4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) a small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffe mug (Microwave Safe) Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the mild and oil and mix well. Adds the chocolate chips (if using)and vanilla extract and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts The cake will rise over the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a littls and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to be slightly more virtuous). (In Blue letters and bigger font:) And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? (Black to regular print) Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!". JSP?MSGID

I have had this recipe for some time NOW! The answers to your questions are; YES..YES...and NO! It is great fun...and can so easily be modified...by adding nuts and chocolate chips, or whatever you wish to have fun with; like banana chips orange peel, chopped up apple, etc. Gaining weight...NO! You are eating such a small amount...about 6 ounces! It's a one dish clean-up...and satiates your desire for a hit of sweet & chocolate! It serves a wonderful purpose, and you don't have the temptation of a whole cake beckoning you! LOL! Love it...and you, too. Cheers!

ve heard of this recipe, maybe even have had this recipe, but I have never made this recipe. I think I agree with pergammano about its usefulness to me because I am also one that if there are cookies they call loudly to me until they are all eaten. I could share this with hubby and put a small scoop of vanilla icecream on top and be in good shape.

OHHHHH! GO AHEAD....try just one! LOL! I truly think it is the answer to NOT overindulging! If I make a batch of cookies...JUST ONE....NOT ON YOUR LIFE...just one more! Make a cake....just one slice...NO! If I can see more, I will eat more! Visual stimulation...gets me everytime! One Chocolate Mug Cake...and I am a happy Camper! Usually my treat, after Sunday nite's dinner! I've even put some Chocolate Syrup like Nestles...in the bottom of the cup! Yummy! Gotta wait 'til Sunday tho! Cheers!

hi edge... my oven is not working. As such any recipe using the microwave is very much welcome. And the fact that it only takes 3-5 mins to prepare really tempts me. I might just try it out. I'm not much of a cook really. But this is just too good to be true, not to try. Thanks for the recipe!

a 3 minute cake does not even sound possible to me. Is this 3 minutes in the microwave or 3 minutes total including all the preparation before cooking?

3 mins. in the microwave, supposedly only takes a couple of minutes to make before it goes in. See response to #1. She asked for the entire recipe. So it's up there for you to check out. I haven't done in, but p up above has and says it's great!
