my height is 5'5". in many countries i am considered short. in my country i have many people taller than me and i consider myself short. however, it was a relief when i learned just a while ago that the average filipino male (based on reliable statistics) is only 5'4". so i'm a little above average.
anyway, as i researched more about the topic, i stumbled into some very interesting and intriguing facts. NASA discovered that while the astronauts were in outer space for months, when they returned to earth, their height increased by a few inches. the explanation was that since there was no gravity in space, their vertebrae (spines) were relaxed so this uncompressed state of the spinal column made them taller.
due to this discovery, many people have researched more about the phenomenon. nowadays, it has been established that there are certain exercises that will actually help you grow 1 - 2 inches. examples of that would be pilates and yoga. these exercises relax your vertebrae and stretches it making you seem taller than you appear to be. these exercises also help correct your posture which helps you build a better stature and increase your height. interesting right? now, be warned, there are so many scams out there that has piggybacked on this HIGHLY CONTROVERSIAL topic.
there are also other methods where you can increase your height. if you are a teenager there are available natural substances and diet that will help you grow. there are also artificial substances such as human growth hormone (HGH) which will increase your height. however, these substances can only be given by specialists and are regulated. there are also shoes that are engineered to help you appear taller. the last option that you can have if you have the money and have a high paint tolerance (along with desperation) is go with SURGERY.
now my question is, with the advent of technology and science and with all these options available now, would you consider increasing your height? would you try out any of the options i have mentioned above? or are you contented with the current height you have right now?

I am considered tall for my age, though i guess any age actually. I haven't actually measured my height for a while, though i am assuming i am almost 6 feet tall. I believe that being somewhat short shouldn't worry you. I have actually sometimes wished to be shorter. Being tall isn't always a good thing. What you said about your height increasing when you go outer space is very intriguing. I have heard about aging at a different rate and your weight changing while you are outer space but never have i heard about becoming taller. Great researching by the way. Very interesting stuff.

Always being the tallest girl in my class at 6'0. Its great to have found a man taller than me. As for growing ,I don't think you can you can stand taller .Exercise will also help get your posture straighter. HGH is not to make you grow taller it is used for ill people,to rejuvenate there bodies .I would not recommend HGH hormones that you know little about can harm you.Study before taking any type of hormone they can mess you up more than help you.

Hello, I'm only 5'1" which is considered as short even in for Asian standard. When I was a teenager, i was really very disturbed by my height. Cos all the guys that I like were tall and most guys like tall and slender girls. But as I grow older and more confident, I think my height is not an issue anymore. What I want to say that I am still not contented with my current height but I can live with it. Cheers =))

Height mostly depends on your genes, exercise or natural substances or stuff like HGH etc can only get your growth spurt earlier than how it would come naturally. But will not make you taller than what your genes say you should be, you know what I mean?
Of course, if you get some thyroid problems or hormonal issues then you can grow abnormally tall or something like that but thats not what we are discussing about.
Temporary increase in height even happens during sleep, where in a person becomes slightly longer than he/she is but its just because of the relaxed state of muscles and bone joints.
I think the NASA experiment showed the same thing, the increase in the height is not permanent.

I'm pretty content with my height which is 5' (I found out it was the average height for Filipino women from a Filipino talkshow). Although it makes me nervous to go to certain concerts because I could be easily hurt or lost. I'm even upset about how my short limbs make my calf muscles on my leg seem bigger. But I wouldn't try to increase my height through technology or hormones. My height is not a hindrance.

well i certainlyl ike to gain 4-5 more inches at least. i still have time to grow so its not like i am stuck at this hgiht the rest of my life.
concerning using 0 gravity to increase height: this comes with a great consquence, your muscles will weaken due to the lack of gravity. you may gain some inches, but you will grow weaker. that is why astronauts use artificial gravity to workout in space.

You should never worry about your height at all. I think its time for people to start thinking about the benefit of standing tall instead of being tall.I've seen a lot of people who are short yet they are giants in their own way. Spudd Webb aint much of a six footer but he was in the NBA, much less Adolf Hitler aint even standing tall like his super race yet he made his mark in history ( by his evil ways of course)! So don't believe on all these getting tall scams but rather nurture a confident persona. Dude Im just standing 5 ft 8 but im with the varsity before playing power forward against 6 1 s giants. Its all in the heart

I really want to increase my height, but I know that I can not.
I am 21 years old, and my height is 5'4".
It is too late for me to do anything to improve my height, but I am happy with what I have right now.

I'm 5'6" - white female. I guess I'm a little above average height for my gender and race. I'm pretty happy with my height...just glad that I'm not shorter!
That's pretty cool about how relaxing your vertebrae can make you taller. I've never really heard anything about that, but what you said makes sense. I've done yoga before just for relaxing purposes and health purposes, but never with the intent to try and make myself taller.
I also don't think I would ever take HGH or get surgery - it sounds super painful!!
I'm happy with the height I'm at now. It would be cool to be a little taller, but I'm not going to go out of my way for it to happen.

i'm 5 ft 3 and change..not even 5'4..
but i've gotten used to it.the entire rest of my family is 5'10 to 6'6,they tease me about it.
i don't think at my age trying to change my height would be a good idea,it might cause bone weakness or something.the body's now "set" at this size.
there's always high heels

You're not alone! I've always wanted to put a couple of inches with my 5 foot 2 height. And I don't think there are any height increase that is effective, cause if there is, there are many short celebrities who would have just grow few inches. But I've heard that doing some stretching like yoga and pilates can make the right posture, which will add good height and stand. So I think I'll stick to that, afterall, it's a good exercise.

in my country,I am considered a person with an average height.I am 5'5.I do hope I stand 5'7.but,whether I like it or not,I have to accept it.anyways,my height is ok.I am not really too tall and I am not really too short.also, for a girl, some people already consider me as 'tall'.

i'm also a short woman . Sometimes i do feel height makes a big deal in one's life.
If you are high enough or in the standard you will get more choices for the job and even the friends. Therefore i do hope that my child will grow up not be a short man.
